Thanks for clarification.
Then it's not better than the MetroByt deal, given it also needs full year monthly fee..
It's already out there getting put on the dark web. When the credit bureaus are among all of the hacked sites, I imagine they have all they want of our info.
Credit monitoring and timely reaction to fraud which has happened or will happen to us all is what we have left now.
Don't reuse passwords, stay aware of charges and changes to your credit with monitoring services which are free for most if not all of us based on the constantly hacked sites offering free 1 to 2 years of monitoring.
I just got another 1 year from the Ticketmaster leak. No site is safe. We can try our best to avoid being a victim of phishing attacks via texts, calls, and emails. Some are pretty slick. Most are easy to spot a mile away though. I doubt there is anything on my ID that they do not already have access to from multiple places. They can pay a few dollars to get most of that public record information as well. I stopped losing sleep over it all once it got to critical mass.
The math is $55 for 1st month plus $15 x 11 more months ($55 + $165 = $220) to get it unlocked after 12 months. I also imagine some small monthly taxes and fees will add to that $15 every month but regardless...
Otherwise buy for $55, deactivate autopay, let account be suspended, and leave it locked. Use as you can as a wifi device, or trade, or sell as locked,
Someone even quoted their unlock policy which made it seem that continuous service was needed. Here is a link to that page since Boost does not make it easy to find on their own site I googled it. Seems this is considered as a prepaid type of account and the way it reads, I believe you need to have it active for the year or maybe as one poster suggested reactivated at 11 months in. if you had it suspended after paying the first month, but that seems a coin flip to me.

And here is the relevant section with relevant portion in bold by me:
1.2 Wireless Mobile Devices on Prepaid Plans ("Prepaid Devices):
For Boost customers and former Boost customers in good standing and individual owners of eligible devices on prepaid Boost plans, Boost will unlock such Prepaid Devices no later than one (1) year after initial activation, subject to reasonable time, payment, or usage requirements. Boost will automatically unlock such prepaid devices remotely within two (2) business days of devices becoming eligible for unlocking, without additional fee. However, if you meet the preceding requirements and it is not technically possible for Boost to automatically unlock your Prepaid Device remotely, Boost will instead provide immediate notice to you that your Prepaid Device is eligible to be unlocked. With respect to Prepaid Devices, "reasonable time, payment, or usage" means:
No Prepaid Device balance: If you have financed your Prepaid Device, the Prepaid Device balance must be paid off in full before it is eligible for unlocking.
Account must be active: If your account is in "suspended" status one-year post initial activation, your Prepaid Device will not be eligible for unlocking until it is out of "suspended" status.
Not already unlocked: If your Prepaid Device is already unlocked because of a customer request (i.e. unlocked for international travel), it will not be automatically unlocked at the one-year mark.
If it is not technically possible to unlock your Prepaid Device remotely, or if your Prepaid Device does not meet the "reasonable time, payment or usage requirements" outlined above, Boost will send you a written notification once your Prepaid Device eligible for unlock.
Come on…, most of us SDers have at least 10 of these unused cells phones in their drawers.

Phone is new so android is still learning usage and doing background stuff. So far 5hrs of screen since Wednesday morning. Only down to 64%. One of the best phones I've used in years. 256/8gb is same as my S23U config. Goes up to 144hz but I prefer auto mode. Keeps it at 90hz usually.

My math was bad but at least you go the point, thanks.

AutoPay has been removed from your account.
"Hi Ice,
AutoPay has been removed from your account.
You'll need to make a payment by 2024-08-04 to avoid any disruptions to your service. You can easily make a payment through the BoostOne app or find a store near you to pay your bill in-store."
Be warned.

I stopped buying these cheap moto because there's no updates after a year. Motos have bad trade value and hard to sell a locked phone
Looking for something protective like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CTCY8VJ7
