A few years ago, I considered purchasing the M1 MacBook Pro but decided to wait for a deal. I recall Best Buy offering it for $1,699 during the 4th of July sales, followed by further reductions to $1,599 during Labor Day and Black Friday. Seeing this as a good opportunity, I went ahead and made the purchase.

Later, from November to January, the M2 Pro was available at a deal price of $1,800 to $1,899. Curious about the trade-in value of my M1 MacBook Pro, I found it to be between $1,000 and $1,050. This experience taught me that the current prices might not be the lowest, and it's often wise to hold out for further reductions.

At this year's WWDC, Apple focused solely on software and AI updates, which is unusual for them. This strongly suggests that a hardware update is imminent, likely introducing the M4 Pro and Max chips with specific AI-focused features. These new models are expected to have more CPU and GPU cores, offering even better efficiency.

I am the 1% that do notice, as an Apple developer since IOS 1. M3 was just the first gen 3nm, like with any new product there are going issue. M3 is a beast right now it seem, but there is efficiency performance and security that is resolve 2nd gen 3nm M4 will be better. There a reason why they skip m3 on the iPad Pro.

"Patience isn't just a virtue. Wait, watch for deals, and when make a purchase, make it count."

****THIS IS NOT AN EXPERT ADVICE******
If you need urgently something right now, don't own a silicon Mac MacBook Pro, any silicon Mac will be night and day compared to Intel Mac. If you can wait another 3-5 months or 100-150 days buy the m4 pro. M3 pro might be chip you want pass.

I am someone who bought M1 Pro then upgraded to m3 max maxed out, then returned m3 max to upgrade to Mac Studio M2 Ultra with 192gb of Ram. I still keep my M1 Pro it will handle most of my work. My go to machine is the m2 Ultra & PC desktop with rtx 3090 & Rtx 4090.

Portable travel window laptop I use maxed out Asus Zenbook Duo pro 2024 with 64 gig ram. MacBook M1 Pro 14 still my preferred laptop, the speaker, battery, performance, and size is perfect for me, I just remote to my desktop and Mac Studio for intense work like LLML & vm. I used Ai everyday Gemini, open Ai, & claud. I often hit my rate limit on the paid subscription.

M4 MBP would be releasing in October if I am not wrong. M3 based laptops would get even cheaper at that point for sure.
