None of these are deal-breakers, but this system is notably:

- A little loud/vibrates while in use
- 1:1 clean to dirty water usage. For $80 more, you can get 2:1
- 400 GPD is really slow. Again, for $80 more you get 600 GPD. Neither are particularly fast though.

Here's another option at $279: https://www.amazon.com/Waterdrop-...08746G2XX/

I have it, you need an electrical connection (120v) but is way better than needed to wait for water. 3 years with mine and so far very good.

The tank type is slower — but that's why they have a tank! You pull a glass or pitcher of water from the pressure tank quite quickly, and it slowly starts refilling. I never have to wait for water from my tank system, unless I fill a couple of gallon jugs.

Filters are much much much cheaper on the under the sink tank systems. Another commenter said these filters are $90! I replace stage one a lot more often for only a couple of bucks per change, and the rest of the filters last a lot longer. Entire replacement sets might be $30, and the TDS are single digits.

I'd vote for the under the sink system with a tank, every day, at this price. I went with a "nuaqua" system with an extra stage to re-mineralize the water. Not in city water? I'd recommend an extra UV stage, too.

Just my two cents.

I think I could, but that is because I already have a plug-in below my sink and I have replaced a bit of plumbing skills I assume you need to drain. That being said I haven't looked into this model's install instructions yet.

edit ya looks pretty easy..did not watch with audio https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HJP-StdSYDM

Hints. the water pipe will have water in it and you need a bowl. 2 the water pipe will not come Apart that easy, you will need 2 wrenches.

edit you may lose an established built in. sink thing, we had a soap dispenser and I replaced it with a spray hose, but this would replace that.
Worst case, you'll need a sheet metal punch for the sink if it's stainless, or a special hold drill if it's coreon or stone. YMMV get an expert to punch/drill that hole!

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to go for the 600 based on comments here.

Sorry for my naive question. Is this only for drinking water? If so, isn't the water dispenser on the refrigerator enough? I'd like to install this device on kitchen sink to get purified water for cooking, but this one doesn't seem to have a spray head, so not a good idea?
Not naive at all. In fact, you can install this before your fridge feed and have RO water from the fridge. You could even split the output and send it to the fridge as well as the sink. Your ice and water would both be RO from the fridge if you install it with a feed to the fridge.

I don't understand how this doesn't require a tank. I need to learn about these on-demand systems.

1:1 pure to drain is quite inefficient. But that's what a lot of under the counter systems are rated at. Some even worse than that. Meaning, for every gallon of fresh filtered water it creates, it wastes 1 gallon of water down your drain. Your water bill will go up for sure. I prefer countertop reverse osmosis systems. They have 3:1 ratios (3 gallons fresh water to 1 gallon wasted).
Which countertop one do you recommend? Looking to buy one.

Yes only for drinking water. This system will get contaminants out of your water that your fridge filter won't. For example- flouride.
Fluoride is not a contaminant despite what some people think.

Read this post of mine in this thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/17611878-zerowater-official-replacement-filter-3-pack-28-68-w-s-s-ymmv?p=171783693#post171783693

I made a couple posts after that too. Should get you up to speed on the product, cost to maintain it, etc.

Fluoride is not a contaminant despite what some people think.
It's enough of a contaminant to cause over 10% of people to end up with visible tooth damage from fluorosis, due to excessive fluoride. The EPA quietly reduced the recommended amount of fluoride in drinking water by over 40% in 2011, because fluorosis is so common.

Most of the strong evidence for fluoridation dates to the 1950s, before toothpaste and mouthwash were commonly fluoridated, and before fluoride treatments existed. Further, studies in Europe have shown no correlation between discontinuing water fluoridation and increased cavities -- and very little benefit to adults with permanent teeth. (In fact, it correlates with a small decrease in cavities.) The EU itself says:

"No obvious advantage appears in favour of water fluoridation compared with topical prevention. The effect of continued systemic exposure of fluoride from whatever source is questionable once the permanent teeth have erupted."
https://ec.europa.eu/health/scien...-3/5.htm#0

It is likely that water fluoridation is mostly redundant now that toothpaste and mouthwash are commonly fluoridated, and dental care for children is more common. Further, as we've found, fluoridating the water supply is risky because you can't control how much water people drink.

In conclusion, anyone who can afford a reverse osmosis water filter can also afford fluoridated toothpaste and a couple trips to the dentist for their kids. This gains the same benefits, without the risk of visible fluorosis...
...or any other potential hazards of ingesting what is, after all, a waste product of phosphate fertilizer manufacture, and thus a suspiciously convenient method of disposal of what is legally considered a hazardous substance and a workplace hazard! https://nj.gov/health/eoh/rtkweb/...s/1701.pdf

Seven stage? I see an RO and a carbon filter.
What is the cost of these proprietary filters compared to a tank type system?
Both combined on a deal day around 80$, if not then $120.
I have had to change them once in 2 yrs or based on usage
It's tankless so be ready to store water separately or else will need to let the water run for about half a gallon everytime to bring the ppm to under 30 in CA
I have had no issues so far.
