Because this is just a gateway pack. WOTC knows that they could possibly even give these away for free, because once it hooks you, the money keeps flowing out from you
I used to play MTG way back when, as much as I loved the game, it can quickly turn into a money pit because its addicting.

These are 2021 decks, so most likely any codes have expired and cards are most likely not legal in standard play. However, would be a good way to teach new players the basics.

love seeing MTG content but man the Arena stuff while better than MTGO, is still so, so overpriced and this includes entry fees in my opinion. If you are trying to start on the cheap and then play mostly for free I don't think this is what you want. I actually have no clue who would want this exact set up and of course the $14 original price is insane with what you are getting here. Grinding gold on the weekly quests and entering quick drafts is how I have built a substantial collection (while not being the best drafter, but I do love it!) However, I do not recall how I got started with initial cards, maybe just what came with the initial download. You don't even have to win at all to grind and it isn't that time consuming if you build with the quests in mind. Just throwing that out there for anyone getting started.
These are prebuilt decks so if you grab multiples you will just have more copies of the same deck.
I find that these are fun with my kids. We play a couple times, then I allow them to pick like 5 cards out of the old collection of random cards as a bit of a sidebar and "improve" the decks. It's nice because the decks seem to be about level matched and its not like one kid has a built tournament deck and the other has a collection of cards they liked the artwork on.
So if you want to casually play with someone else, for $6 this would be an easy entry point.
IMO. I bought at $14 and the arena codes were just bonus for us.
Yes[fandom.com], but that doesn't really mean much. They have a combined value of $5.20 (shipping included) on TCGPlayer. There's a reason this deck is still available at half price three years after it released.
