Prices on video cards and nvme have been an absolute roller coaster the last 5 or so years since Covid. I paid this price a year ago for a build and it's on sale again a year later for the same price. It's been solid with constant support for software. I don't do heavy gaming, but it has handled what I do in 2k with no issues.

I love how these weak ass cards get three fans to act like they're pushing the limits of the die

It's crazy that we got the same deal over a year ago with a game for the same price. You would think they would have come down a little bit more.

More fans are always better if the case have room for it.

I think he's saying the 3 fans are overkill for this card.

About 20-30% faster so not worth it. Maybe an XFX 6800 from Newegg for $340.

You are thinking of case fans, not GPU fans. Adding more fans to a GPU is rarely better, hence why Nvidia sticks with 2 fans on even it's high end products. When you shove 3 fans on a GPU you have to make each individual fan smaller. In addition, only one of those fans is going to be over the GPU core itself and one over the VRM (heck on the 4000 series really everything fits under 1 fan now). The 3rd is going to be more distant and much less effective. That's not to say a 3 fan config can't be better than a 2 fan config but it really depends on the card design. Nvidia's flow-through design that expels a portion of the hot air outside the case a a portion through the back is a really good 2 fan implementation. Ultimately any 3 fan config that isn't blowing some of that air outside the case is only going to perform as well as the case fans can push the hot air out of the system.

I wouldn't say that in general more case fans are better either. Depending on how you configure your case fans, you could have fans creating air columns that intersect each other thus creating turbulence. A good example of this would be if you were to make the top and front fans of your case intake. The performance of such a setup won't be bad, but it's unlikely to be any better than if you simply installed 3 top fans or 3 front fans, of course depending on which case you are using and how ventilated the front / top is. There are also many cases where the fan intake is up against glass which in turn completely defeats the purpose of putting any fan there. In essence you are recirculating the inside the case, not intaking cooler air or expelling hot air. You also have to consider the acoustics of adding more fans and that past a certain point fans come with diminishing returns. Having a ton of fans only really makes sense if you are going watercooling with a large external rad or multiple internal rads. That will net you a vastly larger temp drop than simply filling up all your fan mounting points.

Look at the price history. It was $160 in February if you bought it through the stupid Tik Tok app promo. And it was $176 in April of 2023. So this is a pretty good price, but it's not the lowest.

There is another card for the same price:
Asrock Challenger Arc A750 also for $180.

Choose your poison.

Edit:

And there is a third deal for the SPARKLE Intel Arc A750 ORC OC Edition with same price, $180:
