1 - you dont know yet whats the next gen gpu coming in Q4 can do
2 - if for once you can future proof, why not
3 - this is $700 the dell 32 240hz 4k is $1000 or less, not a earth shattering difference for the specs improvement .
4 - being on slickdeals does not mean buy the absolute cheapest for me, it means buy the best bang for the buck for what i want !

"future proof" is an illusion, better stuff comes out at much cheaper prices in the future. Im am very confident that next cpu won't do 240hz at 4k with any game.

neither of those gpus will really be able to even get close to this monitors top frame rate in games at 4k. But aside from that it really boils down to how much you want an ultrawide 21:9 aspect ratio. This monitor is better in just about every metric compared to the 34in ultrawide except in screen layout and size. The biggest improvement is with text clarity due to the higher resolution. Here is a link to the rtings comparison of both. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/to...shold=0.10

No, this is the AMD freesync version
I have it and it supports gsync. All new monitors do due to the HDMI standard.

There is no such thing as "future proofing"

And comparing a 21:9 to a 16:9 is braindead

Yes, if you leave elements in the same positions for a long time, then you'll eventually get burn-in. I have around 5k hours on this monitor and no burn in, but I use tiled (i.e. not full-screen) windows that get organically moved around, and don't play the same game for many hours a day for months on end (e.g. League of Legends).

Also need to use black or rotating wallpapers, and hide desktop icons and task bar. I have a little semi-transparent Rainmeter clock to have the time visible.

The monitor has anit-burn in features such as pixel shift, which will noticeable shift the screen slightly every hour or so. It's not that jarring, but it's noticeable when it happens if you're reading text. Not noticeable in games. Every 4 hours, if the monitor goes to sleep, it will try to run a pixel refresh which takes around 7 minutes. You can interrupt it if you need the monitor to come back on and that's fine.

The monitor does have a 3 year burn-in warranty, but you'll likely have to fight to not get a refurbished unit as a replacement.
The taskbar at the bottom seems most likely to burn in (to me)

I've owned this display for a year. Paired with a 7900XT with Freesync Premium Pro. It's the nicest looking display I've owned in 20 years of PC gaming.

Really a game changer going from anything to OLED.
I run the maintenance stuff when prompted. No burn in yet, but it comes with a generous warranty from Samsung.

My only complaint is the Freesync/Gsync will flicker. Manual says to turn off VRR if it happens so I leave it off. Not a deal breaker if you have the hardware to drive the display.

This is the lowest price I've seen for it. I paid $800 at BB

as someone who hasnt followed monitor tech: are these still prone to burn-in especially for pc use since its oled or is this a non issue now ?
I have this monitor and it has a lot of controls to prevent burn in. Burn in is mostly an older OLED thing. This model has some extra pixels to shift the screen around every now and then and asks you to do a pixel refresh every 4 hours

Samsung.

Typically for OLED monitors (not TVs):
  • QD-OLED = Samsung
  • WOLED = LG
If it fails to mention QD-OLED, and only "OLED" then it's likely WOLED.

I have to ask this cause I am pretty tempted to buy it.
I currently have the AW3418DW model of this monitor.
I run a 3070 to play ESO, the only game I play.
Would I see enough of a difference to make this worthwhile?
