Even though the 6800M can outperform a 3080 in certain cases, it's driving a QHD panel on the G15 thereby pushing it whereas the 7700S on the A16 is mostly comparable in performance to the 6800M, but it's driving a WUXGA+ screen (less demanding than a QHD) and so performance should be comparable or if a little better on the A16 given the smaller pixel count. My opinion is that QHD on a 15" screen has negligible benefits although I do like the taller screen real estate, which is why I bought the A16 for its WUXGA+ screen (a taller form FHD). Both have the same 165Hz. One lynchpin is that the G15 does not have a Mux switch which will bottleneck performance on its QHD screen. I need to have an external monitor with the G15 to connect directly to its 6800M to get full benefit, although I could get a 27" external screen and really benefit from QHD... but I'm now stepping into sedentary desktop territory. The A16 does have a mux switch, so I can witness the full potential of the A16's own screen.
The G15 has a AMD Ryzen 9 5980HX and the A16 has a Ryzen 7 7735HS. A lateral move and shouldn't make difference.
The 7700S is half as old as the 6800M with RDNA3. The A16 has a webcam, but the G15 does not. And for as much as I bought the A16 I can probably sell the G15 for $600. Oh and I hate the rainbow lights the G15 has - I'm satisfied with just a white backlit keyboard (I have to take it to work). I feel like I'm buying basically a refreshed version of my same laptop.
Willing to hear thoughts (puts on FR suit)...

Has anyone put Linux on one of these? I prefer Mint and Fedora but Ubuntu would be fine as well. Who has tried what? Did you run into any issues?
If nobody has tried this but DOES have one of these, would you mind going into the UEFI/BIOS and see if there is an option to toggle on the CSM? This is sometimes labeled "legacy mode".
Thank you!
