Is this good for office work use? Seems silly question but I don't know if a gaming laptop with all the crazy refresh rates etc is the right one for excel and PowerPoint ... Any other experts want to weigh in or suggest a deal on another monitor?

If coming from 60Hz, I would say yes. Mouse cursor movement on high refresh rate monitors is night and day. Personally I'd look for a higher resolution monitor for office work; more screen real estate, more productivity.

If you stick with a 24", maybe consider this... https://a.co/d/07C7wCW

TN is regarded by most as the worst panel type. VA has the best contrast, both IPS and VA have the best brightness and colors, VA can have black smearing on budget panels, and IPS has the best viewing angles.

The only benefit to TN panels is the response time, and even that is beaten by good IPS panels.

The price isn't that good either, I've seen IPS monitors from MSi and Dell for a similar price, so I'm not sure how this got to fp.

I wouldn't recommend TN to anyone in 2024 but I guess if you are a super competitive budget gamer and are willing to sacrifice everything for response time with the chance at being slightly faster, then maybe it's worth it. Good at $80 maybe?

yuck

for comparison I paid $150 for a 27" Acer Predator 1440p 165hz VA. And as others have said in this thread TN panels look absolutely horrible.

this is a terrible deal.

Some folks report less eye strain with higher refresh rates. Others, find relief, and higher productivity with a larger size.
Some folks require flicker free technology to avoid migraines.

I'm not sure if these monitors are flicker-free or not, but those are three important things to look for when shopping for a monitor.
