Other than that it's a decent card and the Eno one-time/one-vendor card numbers are very helpful.

I currently have the Chase Sapphire Preferred and we use the points for flights to visit our son in Texas.
Since I mainly will use this for flights, should i wait for a deal on a different card, like the Venture X?
I'm surprised that no one called out the fact or even on the DOC site that cap1 doesn't have any Marriott/Hilton/hyatt /ihg travel partners like Chase.
I found out hard way after I got the spark miles and only transfer partners are airlines
I'll take the free money all day.
Any idea about cancelling and reapplying the card?

I don't have any CapitalOne card and was debating if I should get Venture card or Venture X. I have an excellent credit score of 830+ and also have Chase Sapphire Preferred for hotels etc. Which card would you suggest I should get? I don't travel very much just one international trip every one or two years and probably one domestic trip per year. I am applying the card mostly for sign up bonus points/miles but I do like lounge access though. I was wondering if I should apply for Venture card, get the points, downgrade to Venture One or something else a year later and then apply for Venture X or vice versa. Not sure if it is realistic to get additional $300 worth of benefits from Venture X to make up for the annual fee difference. Just wanted to know your perspective as you have both the cards. TIA
My biggest gripe with this card is only 1 hotel partner and like others have said the $250 is really worth $200 technically but i see what ppl are recommending, to call in and price match with 24 hours... how many of us SD'ers have done it here?

They have a website, facebook group, etc. The biggest travel hacking group that I know of, but there's a million out there, including capital one oriented. Highly recommend checking out for maximizing point value.
You are confusing transfer travel partners (for the points) with the statement credit. Almost all the hotels are on the travel portal for you to redeem that $250, but yes I have noticed that the travel portal is more expensive (that's pretty typical with all the credit cards). Your real value is going to come from the points, not the cash back. While the hotel options are limited there, I find flights to be a better deal anyway. AirFrance is a transfer partner and I flew to France this summer for about 50k points and $300 in lay flat business. Another unique redemption (since Virgin is a transfer partner), whenever Virgin offers the free European cruise deal, this sign up bonus could easily be worth $6k.

Probably for now, it makes sense to take advantage of the regular Venture card and the promo they have for it.

This Venture offer is good to get the 1k value if you don't mind having to try to upgrade in year 2 to Venture X or having to apply for Venture X then canceling the Venture after.
