Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
I don't know why this got buried; it's a killer deal on the 990. I paid 291 at amazon last week and though I got a decent price. It's already installed on my new pc and it's so wonderfully fast (coming from a Corsair P600 4TB drive in my current rig...though that one is about 75-80% full). Heck this is just a few (okay, 22) dollars more than the [inferior] WD Black 850 that was on sale last week.
For those who can't find it, you'll need to log in to your Samsung account with your .edu address, then click the link in OP's post to find it. If you search in the Samsung student store it doesn't exist. My discount didn't show until I went to the second checkout page after the cart. It shows $299.99 in the cart, then updates. And, yes, I bought another 4TB drive. Now I'll have a main drive, a cloud storage drive (I'm up to about 2.2 TB of cloud files), and I'll repurpose my old P600 as my game files drive.
Bought this for $199 directly from Samsung around black Friday.
That's a phenomenal price given thatBF's price was $249 at most retailers[pcpartpicker.com]- though sometimes Sammy has specials/cb that sweeten the pot more than the usual suspects. If my shopping trip summary is correct (those who know, know - and, yes, it appeared to be miscategorized), my net will be right around $225 for these. Time machines are often more than $25, so it seems a decent deal.
Sounds like it could have been the 2TB drive, as this is their premium product and ssd prices are on the upward trend.
I'd jump on it, except my laptop is pci-e 3.0
It was 4tb for $199 and 2tb was about $79. I bought both sizes. I only made the comment because I'm confident that price will return. If you don't have the patience to wait, then buy this 'deal'. I wouldn't.
Oh, it will return or, rather, prices will fall eventually. My over-under is summer 2025 unless there's a chip shortage. There's little incentive since it's one of the best, if not *the* best performing gen 4 drive. Its random speed is even higher than several popular gen 5 drives, for those people who aren't running TB sequential transfers in real usage.

Definitely not gonna be summer 2025 as Chinese chip tax will go into affect next year

They were probably referring to cashback offers and such. I was supposed to have gotten this 4TB for like $160ish after Chase offers and cashback, but it was OOS and shipping date would've made the 20% chase offer null. I ended up cancelling the order, though I wish I had that drive today. Hopefully some deals will come around this BF as well.

Yeah, I searched back and see it was a military/first responders deal that looked like it may have extended to EPP. Unquestionably a ridiculously smoking deal, but only available with a time machine now. I missed it but probably would have gotten one just as an extra drive at the time. It's back to normal now, deal is dead, but my two drives are in the hands of Fedex and both trips are still showing as $43 cb due to be processed buy this coming weekend.
