Quest 4 is at least 2026 from what rumors say.

Don't get fooled by folks who push Meta Quest headsets in PSVR2 sales or twitter/forum threads. They say the same stuff over and over. Some just want to justify their decsion, even at the expense of misinforming strangers who are looking for honest information. (Sony Abandoned! Gave up! Bla bla)

PSVR2 gets many of the top Quest games as well, and they can look drastically better at times (depending on the art style) + 4K OLED HDR. Mainly because mobile headset vs power of a console. But even when connecting a Quest to a PC, you have to deal with compression (be it USB or wireless).. that can effect image quality and consistency, colors.

PSVR2 does have exclusives you can't find anywhere. The best looking driving game in GT7 (with the console experience of not having to mess with PC settings and mods).. Official Resident Evil VR games that are the best looking Resident Evil 4 and 8.. and probably future ones. The best looking/running version of No Man's Sky (Space and Planet exploration)... and more (like Synapse) you can view videos of on Youtube..

Again the console experience of High End VR. I also own a PC/VR...and I love it for other types of experiences in VR... but for gaming, I play my PS5/PSVR2 more just for the less hassle experience/consistency.

$550 was already a great deal for all the tech inside the headset, in comparison to other PCVR wired headsets (Eye-Tracking Foveated Rendering, 4K OLED HDR display, 110° FOV, Advanced Haptics similar to the PS5 controller)... so $350 is a steal. Even for PC (if someone bought the $60 PC Adapter). Even without PS5 Exclusive features not being officially supported at launch for PC. It's still a 4K OLED VR Headset at $350. The next closest PCVR Headset like that is $1000 (Big Screen VR).

Don't get me wrong though, if someone has a large play area, wants an experience of moving where ever they want to, and interested in games like that..and don't care about graphics or extended playtime (battery).. the Quest 3 is a great/best option. Pick up and play VR anywhere.

Images leaked are of upcoming Quest 3 Lite. Similar to Quest 3, but without the amazing pancake lenses. Quest 4 isn't expected until 2026, and Quest Pro 2 in 2027.

I've played my friend's PS VR2 a few times and its fun, but I didn't think it was must buy. I did enjoy my Quest 1, but support fell off that so quickly. I may get a Quest 3 eventually for PCVR.

That is what Amazon does. See the prices from other stores and match the price.
And there's nothing wrong with that.

I would get the Quest 3 or even Quest 2 over this.

Meta is committed to the platform and is heavily investing on it vs Sony could decide to kill it soon for all we know.
lol quest 2 native? You haven't played RE8 or GT7 I take or no man's sky?

The Quest 3 is definitely a better investment but even a Quest 2 would be good for those thinking about it as the entry point will be much cheaper. That said, of course the Quest 2 is a much lesser product tech wise but that's reflected on the price.

For all we know Sony can decide to drop this tomorrow and you'll be stuck with a very expensive paper weight again.

Although this is a good amount of discount, and it has OLED screens. PSVR2 is essentially a dead platform as Sony is clearancng out stock, and you will likely want the PC adapter for $60 when it releases on August 7th for PCVR access. This will be a wired solution for PCVR. Some prefer that over a the wired/wireless solution of Quest 3, but the Quest 3 has the superior pancake lenses over the PSVR2's fresnel lenses.

Ultimately the support for Quest 3 is superior, but it obviously cost more and have it's own downsides.

In other words, know what you're getting. If you're getting PSVR2 for PS5, get GT7 and Horizon VR.

They have already decided to drop it. Sony isn't one to open up a platform. Their entire business model has almost always been walled garden with Playstation. No new announcement for first party VR game, all the rumors about low sales (supported also by estimates), Astrobot not even having a VR mode and so on.

It's unfortunate, because I think Astrobot could've been huge for PSVR2 and be a good showcase for VR in general. We're basically left with only Meta and Apple supporting VR now.

Not my experience at all. There are really only a few decent games that hold up on the original PSVR. Overall the PSVR 2 has a much better library. With the PSVR 2 getting PC support on a couple weeks this would be a good time to get one if you don't already have a headset.
"hold up"

I was talking about their time of release, not present day and how they currently "hold up." I enjoyed my time with the PSVR more than I did the PSVR2. Astrobot alone was better than anything I played on PSVR2 in terms of exclusives.

PSVR seemed to be more successful, too, so I can't be the only one.

I'm glad that you enjoy it, though. That's all that matters.

I have a PS5 and have been wanting to get this. In fact, since I have a $100 gift card for Amazon I checked it yesterday and was contemplating at $519. I just ordered it here, and then cancelled it. I know I'd play it for several hours and then it will just sit on the shelf and gather dust.
That's how every VR headset's been for me. I play the handful of "must play" titles, try out some of the indie games and then quickly lose interest. I currently have 3 headsets that collect dust. I'll pull out the Index or Meta to play Metro Awakening when it releases.

It's just insane to me that Half-Life: Alyx, a relatively old game, is still the bar for VR. There's not much in terms of compelling AAA software. Probably because the amount of people who buy it aren't enough to recoup the development costs of current AAA gaming.

Dang. Killer price. I paid $350 before tax for a used "Like New" one on Amazon, less than 2 months ago. I love it. I can spend hours at a time playing VR games.

Just because they are releasing a PC Adapter, doesn't mean they are giving up on the platform. A PSVR2 user who owns a PS5 and PC will most likely purchase multiplatform games on the PlayStation Store and not Steam. For all the benefits that are there (HDR, Eye-Tracking, console VR ease of use).... unless they find crazy cheap Steam sales for particular games. But luckily this gives a PSVR2 owner the option to take advantage of what makes PC gaming special... Mods and older PCVR games that never made it to console. Or Oculus PC games like Lone Echo through Revive.

For PC only user...this also places a PlayStation product into a PC household. If it's a PC user who prefers uncompressed image quality from their VR Headset.. regardless of wired. So if a PC user (be it one who owns an older VR Headset) wanted a new VR headset.. they have the option of a 4K OLED headset from a trusted hardware manufacturer for $350 + $60 (adapter) $410... until the sale is over.

With a PlayStation VR product in their household....there is a chance that PC user might be tempted to get a PS5 (or PS5 Pro) if they ever find it on sale... be it for regular PS5 gaming + 4K BluRay Player... and of course to continue to take advantage of their PSVR2 on the PS5.

I feel there are more benefits long term.

Well the PC adapter comes out August 7th so it hasn't been abandoned yet.
