But how do you like oled as a monitor, I hear it's not great for text?
I'm gonna take a shot an assume anything 43 inch (cept specter an that other brand) is better than text on a 14 inch computer monitor?

Make sure to check the screen hours of use!

Display
5
Volume up
Power

Press it fairly quickly.

Then you go to some diagnosis screen. There's numbers there with how many hours of screen time and unplugs. Be careful when doing anything in this diagnosis screen. You can royally mess things up.

Once finished. Just keep hitting the back button to go back to the main standard screen.

I game and work on a 77" S90C. OLED is amazing. Just be careful to autohide the taskbar and minimize things like browser bars. My old B6 got burn in after a couple years from gaming HUD elements. The overwatch ultimate meter will be there forever. Now I have a 2 minute screensaver timeout.

Can you check it without remote?

Last time I bought a SONY camera in "Excellent" condition... to discover that its original battery was swapped with a crap no name $8 from amazon.
Good luck!

I have a C1 48" as the primary monitor. The biggest issue is the dimming if the picture doesn't change on the screen. Also after a few hours it goes to sleep and I have to press the power button to turn it back on.
On the bright side, I can never get used to the amazing OLED colors. Overall, the colors are perfectly balanced. Pictures videos look amazing. I have no issues with text on it. My secondary monitors are 32" 1440p IPS. Day I would take the OLED as my primary any day of the week.

What are your experiences so far?
I haven't picked mine yet, but it seems in some reviews from Reddit that many good/excellent open boxes of this model have burn-ins, which means display units with tons of hours on than returned TVs

Buy the geek squad warranty. It's based on the selling price of the TV. Last time I got a heavily discounted tv (1099 MSRP, paid $547), the 5 year warranty was like $199 I think. It covers burn in and everything for the full 5 years, including remote replacements. The only thing not covered is accidental damage. Both of my OLEDs are BB open box models, zero issues thus far.

If missing parts, you can complain to cs and possibly get a further reduction in price

I would be all over this in a heartbeat, but none are available within 250 miles of me
Years ago the store was able to mark down. The open box items even more, but with people taking advantage of the system incorporate is the one that handles all the pricing now. I used to work for Best Buy for 6 years. It was always nice to get open box things. Last week I bought an open box tv online to pick up in store. It was labeled in good condition, when I went to pick it up it was a display model for 8 months and was missing the remote and camera for the Sony 65" a95l

I picked up the last "GOOD" condition in West LA - Pico Blvd location yesterday and set it up last night. It was ~$640 out the door, and I have 14 days to add a 2-year $89 or 5-year $129 GS warranty. Feels like I finally found an elusive YMMV steal and here are my results so far having inspected and setup the Google TV interface with an hour or so of use:
  • Best Buy: I was impressed at the pickup. The original SONY box and packaging were in excellent condition and if I didn't know I was buying a used/good and the telltale "inspected" tape on the very top of the box I would have thought it was NEW.
  • Unboxing: All accessories were included and sealed in their factory packaging (SONY part #s on bags.) The screen was flawless and although it had been unboxed (the screen plastic bag was torn and had been repositioned during repacking) the energy sticker and bezel plastic were all still in place and untouched. The stand had never been assembled and mounts and screws were all sealed in their packaging. The Remote appeared untouched, and the original SONY batteries were present and accounted for sealed with all manuals and mini zip ties, etc.
  • GoogleTV & Setup: was a breeze (I've never owned a set with this interface) and the picture is gorgeous. I've yet to hook up my PS5 as it's currently on my 77" LGCX down in the family room but am going to give it a spin this weekend. I was planning to also hook up the latest gen 4K AppleTV for this but I might wait to hook up and try out the GTV interface a bit longer.
    • Will run a screen hours used test tonight after work but wouldn't be shocked if it was only what I've personally put on it so far (i.e. a few hours).
I admittedly blitz-researched the A90K 42" when I saw the SD post as I'd been looking for a blowout deal on a 48" LG C3 for our Master Bedroom and this wasn't on my radar. This https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/sony-bravia-xr-a90k-oled [tomsguide.com] Tom's Guide Feb 15th, '24 write-up sealed pulling the trigger on it and already I'd agree about many reviewers' max brightness (SDR and HDR Peak luminance) and darkroom comments especially when compared with my LGCX 4-year-old downstairs in the much brighter room. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase 24 hours in~

I picked mine up and there's a little bit of burn in. I couldn't check the hours but it's definitely a display unit since it didn't come with a remote or a stand. The burn in didn't show when I'm watching stuff but I was worried it might cause problems in the future so I just returned it

just say no to this deal! you do not want an open box tv! like ever! they are mostly display units from the store or used/abused from someone after 30 days. Just pay the extra 25% and buy new! searching for that unicorn open box unit is not worth the time or effort!

I would never buy a 'fair' condition TV or monitor from BB
Even 'Good' I wouldn't touch - I tried it recently with a Samsung Galaxy G8 OLED and it was missing the stand, the VESA mount adapter and the screws. Research led me to many other people who've had similar problems with essential parts missing even on 'good' condition that are not supposed to be missing anything beyond non-essential parts and accessories.
I *might* try 'excellent' but that's as low as I'd go with monitors/TVs from BB
It's never bothered me one bit for the price I was getting it for. I just used Amazon for anything missing.

These come with simplified remotes that don't have number buttons, I bought this same model used from BB and tried to get the hours on it, but you have to buy an older remote. Ended up checking for burni in and returning it after I saw how to check for it on YouTube. Now that I know about burn in, I'll never buy an OLED tv,and especially an oiled display model that's been on non stop for years. Not worth it,even though these 42" Sonys never go on sale, ever, even though Sony discontinued them.
