Do T Mobile 3 month free trial with your Google voice. Best setup at the moment
Why risk losing your number? Plus you got to port back to gv.

What happens after 3 months? Is this price locked in forever or goes back to $90 after the 3 months?
It's prepaid, you can extend with regular price $30 a month

Still amazing deal

so since its runs on tmobile network, should it be the same as having my service through tmobile? Ive been with them for 25 years or so and looking to save a few bucks, but not if the service is going to deteriorate

It has a lower priority, aka deprioritization when the tower you're connecting to is under load, e.g. concerts, sport events, widespread power outages and other emergencies, etc. While true T-Mobile customers will have a higher priority.

Question: can I just keep getting these and changing my number? I need a phone for work and pretty much just need the phone and data, we use an app for text/calls to communicate. I do need to be able to make calls, but the number is irrelevant

Well, now that you mention it, Mint has been sending notices to repeat "new customers." They are tracking IMEIs.

Yeah scam fees but if you have the amex offer for $45 off $90 and buy 2 then you are coming out very well even with those fees. Basically $10/month for 6 months of unlimited after credit back.
how do you hit $90? It only wants to sell me 3 mo for $45

Its teaser rate for 90 days, mint wants you to buy 12 month prepaid.

Just hop on Lyca for 6 months, US mobile for 3 to 12 months, Tmobile for 3 months

Mint is 150 up, 40 down
TMobile 90 up, 50 down
Visible 5 up, 25 down

Do you ever run into problems porting out of Mint? I read that the only way to get your Mint account # and port-out PIN is to call them and they are not always prompt in providing this info. Have you had a better experience?
You can request your account #/ port out pin at any time. Just get it and save it for when you want to switch. Mint CS cannot withhold that information from you. I just ignore what they say and repeat my request until they give it to me.

Thanks, I forgot to follow up. I was able to get my account # and transfer pin easily via Mint's online chat. They didn't give me any trouble at all, even though all 3 of our lines were suspended (but had been for less than 60 days). The rep did ask me why I was switching and I told him it was due to poor reception (which was actually true). I was expecting some pushback but there was none.

You have to pay for 12 months in advance to keep the $15 rate, otherwise it's like $75 for 3 months or $30 a month per month.
Where are you seeing this? After selecting the Unlimited for $15/mo, SIM type, and phone type, i see $45 for 3 months then an option to add to cart. Right below that, "What happens after 3 months" 12-month renewal is $30/mo?

===== EDIT
This is what I see at the checkout screen:

By placing your order, you agree to our Terms & Conditions, Refund Policy and Privacy Policy. Plans must be activated within 45 days. By enabling Auto Renewal, you agree that Mint will automatically renew your plan and continue to charge you the full plan cost to your payment method at the end of each billing cycle (89th day for 3-mo plan; 179th day for 6-mo plan; 365th day for 12-mo plan) until you cancel. Taxes and fees extra. Three-month promotional plans will renew at full price (5GB/mo=$75 for 3 months; 15GB/mo=$105 for 3 months; 20GB/mo=$135 for 3 months; and Unltd/mo=$120 for 3 months). You may cancel at any time. To cancel, login into your account at mintmobile.com/login, select Payment Method and toggle the Auto Renewal option to Off.
