This 5th gen iPad Air has been discontinued since May, so it seems like retailers are just trying to get rid of this stock. But this could be a good deal because most people are not going to notice the difference between the M1 and M2 processors anyway. Both M1 and M2 are slated to get Apple Intelligence later this year if that's important to you. There is the problem with 64 GB storage not being enough but it all depends what you're going to do with it.

It's not Apple that's setting that limitation most of the time, it's the developers. They don't want to keep supporting old software when they have new things to add for newer devices. Apple stops offering OS updates, yes, but the developer chooses what OS's their apps support.

Yes from education store. Better deal in my opinion with better processor and double the storage and better front camera placement. I bought the same thing that the other person did. M2 Air 128 GB with $100 gc for $549. Apple gc is as good as cash to me, but may not be the case for everyone. Also can get Apple gc for 10% off using Chase rewards or 15% off using Discover cash back which makes the deal even better.

Maybe if there was context in the post about current pricing (and last FP link with pricing) and other competitive offers available, then it would be a better post. To the people saying it's not a "good deal", to some people it may be. This iPad still works with the 2nd gen pencil, which the new one doesent. If you are a student get the M2 air from Apple for 449.99*. I only posted this to show that Walmart just got stock back and assumed it would be short lived. Ofc remember that this is 64GB storage. Some Best Buy stores have the 256GB for $100 more but none near me did or I would have included this in the post. For a majority of people this iPad is all they will need for 4+ years and it will get AI features, unlike the 10th gen iPad. There are scenarios where this is a decent deal, and some where it isn't. All things considered if you want an iPad to watch movies on or something like that this isn't a terrible deal if you already have an Apple Pencil 2. We got it for my mom because I got a M4 pro to replace my mini 6 and gave her my old pencil. It's good enough for most people I think, even though it's not an insane deal.
