Bought one a year ago. Yes, it is very expensive, but it works very well. Have a Samsung S90C which has so-so upscaling, but a beautiful panel. This fits the bill for old content and you can do other things with it like play games if you want since it is android.
Not having HDR+ doesn't bother you? That's why I never got it for my S89

Not really. Yes, on paper it isn't great, but HDR10 looks fine and has broad support. Everyone's use case is different, but it hasn't bothered me. You can use native Samsung apps for HDR10+ as you won't need the upscaling for 4K content.

Same here... this coming from an Apple-hating Android user here

The lack of HDR support for Youtube videos is a big problem for me.
Sorry, are you saying the Shield YouTube app doesn't support HDR. Or Apple TV?

Man, I just couldn't get used to the Samsung interface. But it doesn't matter now, the display keeps randomly shutting off and coming back on. Samsung says it's not repairable and they refuse to exchange it for a S90 even though they offered an 85" LED that is the same price on their site. So Samsung is picking this up and refunding me. It's a shame because these QD-OLED panels really are beautiful. I guess I'll be jumping into a Sony or LG this black Friday sales season.

I wish Nvidia had any business case to update the specs and codec capabilities on the shield.

Instead I picked up a Tivo Stream 4k slickdeal a couple of years ago and it's been great. It's almost as good as the shield, and I think I only paid $30 for it. Video performance beats the smart apps on my Vizio, but my only complaint is being limited to a single remote. The remote itself is great, but it only allows one to be connected to it.
Agree really like it, I got 3 of them on clearance for $10 or $15 at Walmart a couple years back

I currently use a Nvidia Shield 2019 and a 2017. I gave my dad my 2015, it still works just great, although I upgraded the remote at some point. These are still way faster than the stock OS on my LG C3, so I'd have to assume faster than the large majority of built-in OS in Smart TVs today. 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos content works just great. I was not a huge fan of the dashboard changes so I have opted for a different launcher, Projectivy Launcher.

Kinda hard to call something garbage when it's not even out yet.
Anything Google touches turns to crap.. they will force everything through the cloud and make it run like garbage like they always do. Check out Google graveyard for more reference. Personally wouldn't buy anything they make ever again.

I am tempted every time this deal comes up but since I moved away from PLEX (because it's a worthless POS now) and onto Infuse, I just need a box that I can plug in a big drive and stream files from.

Will the Shield do that ?
You could look at Zidoo Z1000 Pro - it takes up to a 14tb hard drive but it is not a streamer. I bought a used one a few months ago and have many of my blu-rays and DVD's on the hard drive. They're pretty expensive and somewhat a "techie" piece of equipment so do some homework if interested.

Anyone know how to get this to work with Xfinity Stream? I have been trying for months with sideloading different APKs, but it keeps saying Casting is not allow, It works just fine with Fire TV Stick. why it doesnt work with Nvidia?

And it might still be 2 different presidents 4 years from now. LoL
