An educated and wealthy social circle #1 wouldn't notice #2 would ask you what that different looking phone is #3 would applaud you for getting more for less #4 laugh about what a rip off apple is #5 make fun of people who still work.
See no one cares about brand recognition except you and people like you that you surround yourself with so you can feel like your way is "the" way.
FYI I was a long time OnePlus user and went to an s24u. my social status did not improve (obviously)

Spinner wheels can be a stand in for any sort of "additions" people add to their cars is what i am trying to express. Racing stripes nice wheels hood ornaments, chrome delete etc etc. I am sure you have seen these all over the place. Try to tell me that all those people driving big trucks actually need to have those for utility purposes not just "me like big truck"

512 16 GB video output via USBC. 100 watt charging or whatever. Wireless charging which was not in the 11 or the 12r.
And you can get the 12R for about half the price. But the ultra wide camera is a big step down. There's no wireless charging. And no video output.
I don't normally use one plus devices but man they've been having an amazing year. At least in comparison to the rest of the North American market.
Just some comparison info for those of you still deciding whether you should get 12 or 12R
1) latest snapdragon 8 gen 3 chip on 12 vs gen 2 on 12R
2) better camera on the 12 vs 12R
3) larger storage 512gb on the 12 vs 12R 256gb
4) VERY IMPORTANT FOR GAMERS: Pixelworks X7 chip on the 12 vs none on the 12R, this is something even the Samsung S24 Ultra does not have, short answer to what this chip does: gives you Nvidia DLSS on your smartphone and let you play games at 120fps at a lower battery consumption
5) no spyare on US/Global version because they use a different rom image, if they put spyware in the US/Global version then they would be shooting themselves in the foot so they wouldn't do that, you WILL get spyware on the phone if you buy the China version on aliexpress or temu so don't.
6) if you don't need the earbuds pro 2 and backpack, you can sell it for less than half of the MSRP ($179.99+$69.99) $120 and bring the phone down to $500
