I got this two weeks ago for $699 @best buy and $200 off with Amex and it's just absolutely incredible. A true generational jump from anything else that preceded oled, I'd suggest it to anyone whether it's work or gaming. Also looks beautiful from the back

I think it does but I've never had it prompt me or do it automatically
Go into the monitor's menu and check to see if the panel refresh is set for pixel refresh in sleep/standby. I have seen a few people in forums say they had to take a firmware update to see the extra options. It was there on my monitor.

I have no clue how people use these, I tried it once for 15 minutes and it gave me huge headache that I had to go lay down for a few hours. Images and games look great, but any text is absolutely the worst. I did try clear text and mactype and it did nothing for me.

The manufacturers and Microsoft really need to get together to fix text rendering with OLED monitors. It would be an easy driver level fix, but no effort has gone into it.
Yeah text is not great. I went from the 38" Alienware to this one and have had thoughts about switching back because I spend more time with text than gaming, by a huge margin.

Games are gorgeous though...

Assuming you do know Gsync works just fine on this model what specifically makes you want the gsync model? From what i gathered this dwf model has more features and only lacks gsync ultimate, which to me wouldn't make a difference. Curious though of i missed something

You really gonna complain about not having HDMI 2.1 when your source is a mobile GPU

Its gsync compatible (aka freesync) vs gsync ultimate which the latter comes with some extra features and has dedicated hardware. You can google the differences, not worth it for most maybe, but I have a gsync ultimate now (led), so i probably wouldn't downgrade, and if its only $150 difference, not a big deal overall for me. And yeah im waiting on another dell oled generation revision i think.

I previously used a freesync (gsync compatible) monitor as my main driver and some games had compatibility issues (frame rate wouldnt sync), haven't had it occur yet with gsync ultimate.

My "only" source is not my laptop 4060, I also have PS5 and Xbox series S, Series X, and a desktop with 2080 super. There's no sense in me buying anything HDMi 2.0 now when there are so many HDMi 2.1 options. Maybe I don't want to buy yet another monitor next year…

I ended up finding an even better deal on Samsung OLED G8 that beats this deal and went with that, it has both HDMI 2.1 and USBC, both of which this Alienware lack. My desktop is Alienware I have nothing against Dell.

No body makes a 4k version in this format, and if they do, its expensive.
Dell does as of recently, except now it's 32".

Note that the firmware on the gsync version cannot be flashed at home. DWF model can. It has several revisions.
