The rule of pixel is never buy on launch. Always black Friday. They consistently make launch seem like a good deal and undercut it on BF by $200. I write this on my P7, while planning an upgrade in November

FYI - for those ordering from the Google Store, I came across the promo code "supersafshort" on a Reddit thread that gives an extra $50 off. Just pulled the trigger on a P9PXL (ew that acronym) and got the discount successfully - stacked with 10% Google One discount / trade in / $200 credit.

EDIT to add that "supersaf" as of 8.20 is a valid code (original supersafshort seems expired)

On the fence for a regular P8->P9. Nets to about $183 after all the credits at the Google store. IIRC the Black Friday deals last year were not as good as the launch deals, so this could be the best trade-in offers we get this year.

Is that for regular p8 to regular p9? How'd you get to $150ish? For me it shows $874 after tax - $490 = $384 - $100 credit = $284

I have Google one and got the extra 10% as well. It also included $30 in my account from previous credits, so the correct figure would be around $183. My apologies, will update my post.

if the pixel phones' soc, software, battery life, build quality, and reliability were on par with iphones' I would be happy to buy at this price but this is a rip off. pixels lose half their value within a half a year, google needs to make better phones if they wanna charge these outrageous prices.

We'll see. They have 3 different normal Pixels this year. No way demand for them all remain strong. Economy is bad, unemployment is creeping up and fed might not issue rate cut next month. So phone sales overall should slow in the US, as consumers hold onto money for impending recession.

Why would you even consider doing that? Pixel 9 at best is a stop gap before Google goes onto the TSMC based chips. The tensor 4 benchmarks are fairly mediocre, just slightly higher than the tensor 3, while actually being slower than the Snapdragon 2.

What would you get better by spending that much of additional money, especially keeping in mind that Google store credit is not exactly cash? The improvements between pixel 9 and pixel 8 are marginal at best. Slightly better screen. Slightly better cameras, slightly more RAM and a slightly, actually very slightly, better chip.

Wait for the Pixel 10, and hang on to the pixel 8 because you still get 7 years of support. Personally can't see the value in putting almost $300 for the upgrade.
