90% of morons on this thread will ruin the deal by asking dumb questions to Best Buy and possibly altering them to check trade in phone in details. Just keep your mouth shut when you go there to pick up the phone

I've mentioned this a million times USA iPhone 12 Pro MODEL NUMBER IS A2341. Not MG....BUT THERE IS TOO MANY MORONS IN THIS THREAD SO WHO CARES. They will continually act like a little baby and complain about oh what if they do this? What if they do that? What if they do this? What if they do that.
Well it really doesn't matter what you think and that's probably why people mostly keep ignoring you. A2341 may be the model number, but the MGxxxLL number is also often secondarily referred to as a model number and Apple even lists it alongside the A2xxx number under the "Model number" field in settings. But more importantly, Best Buy views the MGxxxLL number as the model and that's what their system shows on your order info for what model is expected at trade-in (screenshot attached). Best Buy doesn't reference the A2xxx as the model number, so that's completely irrelevant to the discussion. I don't think it will actually be a problem for most people either, but there have been a few people who have had their iPhone trade rejected in-store due to a carrier or model number mismatch in past threads. That's why people are trying to get their "model numbers" to match up wherever possible. However, even Best Buy's own database of the respective numbers appears to be screwed up, so it might not even be possible in some instances. But it's still good to have the correct number selected to be on the safe side in cases where it's actually possible.

MGxxx Is the part number but I don't really care what you think! Because that's all it is. Is your opinion.

And you can't even get your MGxxx numbers to match when Best buy lists them incorrectly anyways. I also don't believe one single person that has been rejected because of that they probably got rejected because they're a moron and sent a totally different phone or at the least, a different color.

Nope … it's Best Buy's opinion also and that's what people are actually concerned about … not yours. laugh out loud

How about you sit there for 24/7 refreshing the page and let everybody know when you see it 😁
Meanwhile, I will just get on when the pixel 9 and XL launch and check it once a day.

It's actually not their opinion. I've traded in multiple iPhones and Android phones to Best buy that have nothing to do with their MGxxx listings. Nobody has any proof that they have ever been rejected because of that mismatch. They don't even check that they check to see if the phone is in good shape and they check the IMEI of the phone and that's it. They don't click next next next next next next next and get into the phone. And go into the settings and look for that number they just don't. It doesn't matter what you say they don't haha.

Yep, I don't believe that it will be a problem at all for most users either, especially since they don't even have their own list right in some cases, but it has happened in the past on rare occasions. Here's one example from the Pixel7 deal …

I'd highly advise against any modifications to your order. If you ordered as store pick-up, let it be. If you ordered for shipping, let it be, even if you prefer the otherway. Modifications may lead to bestbuy changing your TIV according to current terms. I'm not saying they'll definitly do this, but this gives them opportunity to do so.

You're making wild assumptions based on your isolated experiences. There are thousands of these trades happening with these deals and I can assure you that different reps handle things differently at times and they don't all do everything the same. I had one who just gave a cursory glance while one actually did a reset and flicked though the setup before finishing the transaction. It just depends on who you get.

That example is a poor example. It's just some moron that traded in a TracFone(which by the way is like the worst phone ever to ever buy) And it sounds like he kept the SIM card in it or something like that. The guy sounds like a freaking moron.

Yes, of course … every example would be a poor example for you. Just try to dismiss everything that doesn't line up with your own personal experience and narrow view of things. The bottom line is that there are thousands of reps out there and some can be more of a stickler about details than others and yes, some may look at that MGxxxLL number which is right there on the Best Buy form as far as what trade is expected and start looking further if it doesn't match. Yes, I'd certainly push back if that was the case, but having it match in cases where it's easy to do is simply a good idea.

Regarding the trade in, there is no way to verify the iPhone model number without actually starting the phone all the way until you can see the settings and about. So... I'm assuming that the model number needs to match?

I'm perplexed by this whole thing. I'm getting a iPhone 12 pro unlocked from eBay in a few days. Curious what it says

Most users have generally had good luck trading them in as long as the basic info matches up. It's a good idea to use the right model where you can, but I probably wouldn't sweat it in a situation like that. It seems that in-store is usually the best way to go based on other users … I've seen some people who say the mail-in route can be more problematic at times.
