If you have any desire to get an iPad (and you don't have any higher-end specific needs), this is a bargain.

For $200, you can run virtually any iPad application or iPhone application. It's an entirely capable device -- there's nothing "wrong" or poorly constructed with this model. Yes, other models have nicer features -- but they come at additional costs.

It's also relatively newish -- only one generation removed from current. So you'll get a few years of use out of it before Apple end-of-lifes it, just to get you to "upgrade".

This ipad plus one of those cheap android tracfones (even if you don't activate them on cellular) will give you the ability to run pretty much any mobile application available.

There are frequent sales on 13" M1 Macbook Airs (they are a 4 year old machine at this point), as well as sales on refurbished Dell business-class laptops (8th gen intel and later). For around $1000, you can get one device of each platform. No excuse to not be able to get anything done.

Wow what a deal. I know, it from 2021 and 64GB however it is perfect for internet browsing and social media consumption which is for 90% of folks out there.

Headphone jack and a home button are nice too!

Are you joking? Only $20 savings for an open return that is in fair condition is a fool's savings. Can get $10 off just with a target card.

What are people doing with their old ipad's that are made obsolete by apple not supporting them anymore with software updates? I have an old ipad mini that cant use vudu anymore to watch my purchased movies because vudu app requires a higher ios version.

This post seems promising, but haven't investigated yet:

many people don't know you can still update the apple IOS to latest OS , when you can't do it on VERY OLD ipad!

maybe do youtube search on "how to update old ipad to IOS 17" and you will get ways to do it. Maybe in 10 years you might NOT want to keep updating it, and just buy another 199 dollar IPAD. Smilie

Aside from recycling or random trade in promos (I'm looking at you, Samsung), you could make it a dedicated e-reader, camera/monitor, home controller, kitchen cook book, digital photo frame, alarm clock, etc. Donate it to a day care, since toddlers don't care if they're broken or don't turn on.

If truly no desire for any of that, recycle it

Gotta go with the 4% costco and return policy over the 5% off.
As an Android user, I have never taken a bite of 'Apple' but I'm considering this. Have new fam members 1500 miles away (Apple users) and I'd like to learn how to Facetime (wish me luck, hope it's not too difficult to figure out) so they can get to know us.

Trying to decide on which color to buy. Do fingerprints show more on the silver vs the space grey?

Edited to add that iPad return policy is 90 days at Costco.

you're paying about half the price of a new IPAD but also you're going to get about half the lifespan of a new IPAD as apple will stop updating this version eventually. you probably still get 4 or 5 years out of it but just something to think aobut
I'm still using an iPad Air 2 from 2014 and it works fine. This new one will last for well over 5 years.

My only intentions for getting it was for a way to watch movies from purchased content from vudu, for when going on random trips, camping, stuff when your away from home for a few days, a light thing to carry around for that sort of thing. Would also use it for the normal stuff of checking emails, a few games. I was gonna just convert my own movies into the format ipad can play, just do it myself since vudu wont work on it anymore.
But I see these sales and was just wondering if people just accept it and throw away their ipad's and buy new, or if there was workarounds or other things they do with them. I dont plan on buying another ipad since I ran into this issue, just curious to what others are doing.

I ordered this from Best Buy via Doordash and used the DoorDash credit I had accumulated through gift cards (all bought at 20% discount). Already have the iPad with me and it ended up costing $20 less than ordering from Target with the 5% red card discount.

I am uncertain, but perhaps using the Costco Citi Visa card to purchase?
That's only 2% I believe but thanks.

I updated reply, perhaps the executive card gives 4 percent (I think that's what it is called). And, you're welcome!

The costco exec card gives 4% but costco charges shipping for this iPad.
