Some of my audio equipment prefers usb2
You get weird behavior, flaky stability, audio artifacts, device conflicts, trouble finding drivers, etc if you use anything but a usb2.0 port

"Only 9 Left" when I added the slick SSD Case Option model to my cart. "Only 4 Left" a minute later after checkout. Seller discount code worked bringing total with tax to just above $42. Thanks!

that hub with a M.2 drive slot is pretty cool. I haven't seen anything like it in random SD threads before. I've had good luck with sabrent products and ethernet is also very welcome. Totally don't need this, but could definitely be a handy addition to laptops. ok ok I bought it. thanks OP

WHY???
Do they still manufacture 2.0 ports???
Is it really that much more expensive just to manufacture 3.0 ports !!??

the reason is usb-c connection standard has room for legacy usb connections. there will always be a need for 1-2 ports for peripherals with 480Mbps, so as long as they have also added plenty of usb3 ports it's just a bonus

How is the one with the SSD enclosure?
I bought Sabrent SSD enclosure and placed a 4TB M.2 SSD and it get over heated and disconnects after an hour. Really bad for large file transfers.

Wireless USB devices can cause interference on other USB 3.0 ports in the same group, due to the way 3.0 transmits data. I always try to plug any mouse/keyboard dongles into a usb 2.0 port if I have one.

I still think this device should have more than one usb 3.0 port...

Excellent information as always from SD enthusiasts Smilie

I really want to extend my Tower ports so I can tuck it below my desk, but these port extension devices are mainly intended for laptop, thus the cable is very short.

Would a quality USB-C extension cable work?

I love the idea of the 6-Port Dock with M.2 SSD Slot for laptops without an extra NVMe slot.

Also, Siba and SeanFrank, good information on usefulness of USB 2.0 ports in some cases
