So, assuming my existing plan on my own device has phone number X, does the process look the following:
- Activate new Orbic phone - during activation select "I want to keep my old number" and transfer it to Orbic, which will have 1yr + remainder of my current plan.
- Activate next Orbic phone - repeat the above. The 2nd Orbic now has 2 years + remainder
- ... Go through the rest of the TEU Shipping container with unactivated Orbics repeating the above :-))))
- Use a new BYOD Tracfone SIM in the original phone and activate it using the existing line number thus inheriting all the accumulated time.
The last step worries me a bit given that Tracfone already has its IMEI in their database. I would really hate if some problem in their technically excellent </sarcasm> system left my line in limbo (had it once and never got them to fix it). Any problems I should be aware of?I've never used a BYOD Sim but, yeah, I think that's the current process. All my old inactive phones were cleared out this year by TF. I did try to reactivate an old device in the spring when I activated the 1st Orbic but it seemed to fail and I didn't press the issue. Only have the 1st Orbic remaining on the inactive devices list now that 2nd has been activated.
***Also set a spending limit on the card for what you're ordering, 2xs QVC conveniently did the correct temporary charge when ordering but "forgot" to apply the discount when the final charge went through at time of shipping and had to chat for 30 minutes and wait like 5 days for a refund for the difference.****
Also use incognito mode to avoid the website for auto logging in from any old accounts or recognizing you from cookies or IP addresses.

Also, FWIW, the "spare" I used was a phone purchased more than 2 years ago - so it looks like those packages don't automatically go stale after 1 year since the purchase...

There's definitely an issue with the "auto unlock" for the ST G Power right now so if unlock is important I recommend you read the SD thread before making your decision.
