damn. i JUST switched to visible, but from something else. if you have amex business platinum, you can get $10 off every month meaning it will cost you $5 a month for this plan. extra slick
Their basic plan was unusable for me(hard to get service in Los Angeles since youre deprioritized).
Their upgraded plan is great tho.
If you live in a large metropolitan area, you will constantly be deprioritized and suffer low data speeds on this particular plan. Consider this more of a backup option for that scenario.

That's cool but not what I was asking. Again, what did you put in for the T-Mobile account number when it asked to transfer the number?

The other part about IMEI was just a warning. It literally did not let me change it after entering it. It would just ask if it's the correct IMEI on the app, and if you said "no", it would just say to activate it on that device. Apparently, either IMEI works on iPhone but on Android, you must enter the second one for eSIM to work.

An in case you still doubt it, it's mentioned frequently on their own forums:
https://community.visible.com/t5/...rue#M11737
https://community.visible.com/t5/...rue#M12138

Would have been nice if the compatibility check would warn about this ahead of time. It literally breaks their shopping cart and prevents you from trying again and their support is as bad as people say it is.
I answered your question.

Is it true that they would cancel your plan if you use unsupported phone (not on their "system")?

I answered your question.
No? Or did you select Mint Mobile as the carrier that you were porting from in the app since it was a separate option? The $15/month automatically applies for the first month, but it's contingent on porting from a T-Mobile account.

Edit: okay thanks, you said you answered my question and then edited your post to answer it. shake head

Quote from JaTaN :
Not surprised since FreeCarrierLookup website just shows my Mint number as "TMo"

I don't think Visible can tell if its TMo postpaid or TMo prepaid or some TMo MVNOs if the website above just shows the number as TMo -- promo code should just work fine on any TMo number port (its not like they're asking for TMo postpaid bill as proof)
It asks for your T-Mobile account number, and Mint Mobile is a separate option entirely. So I'm thinking that MVNOs will not work. I'll wait for someone more reliable to post that Mint Mobile works before trying.

****EVERY**** location, small, large, and in-between is YMMV with data speed. I live in a densely populated area and Visible (basic) is great. A few blocks away, it's not.

It's a crapshoot whether your particular location is good or not.

All that being said .. people dwell on speed too much. Every video you're watching is on a tiny screen. Any speed north of 10mbps is gravy. Ping times are more important.

If you have standard Tmo service, do not switch to this unless you're only on wifi and just want phone calls and texts when away from wifi. We got visible on our sons' iphones and it was atrocious service. There's a reason it's so much cheaper.
You don't know what you are talking about bc you are not in NYC. He asked about service in NYC. I've been using visible in NYC for 5 years and it's awesome, 300-400 mbit/s on $25 plan and 600mbit - 1.5 gbit /sec on $35 plan. Reliabiity and coverage wise it is much better than t-mobile.

I'm in the city at least 5 days per month for work and I've done A/B testing there. But way to make a fool out of yourself trying to tell people their own lived experiences are wrong, troll.

Visible service is fine for many people and the price is good, but BEWARE! Know what you're signing up for:
  • They might lose your phone number on port-in.
  • You might be without service for a week.
  • There's no bonuses or gift card incentives here, but they're known to not pay those out.
  • If you ever need to contact support, good luck! There's no phone number and support is exclusively through chat. They might respond in a few minutes or a few days. A different person might reply to you every time. If you ever need to be elevated to level 2 support, they'll send you one email from a no-reply email, and you'll have to start over with chat explaining your case from the start for each iteration.
  • Service will probably be fine but you may be in the minority of people that have issues.
Here's some comments from your fellow Slickdealers:

Had an issue with Visible where I lost all service for a few days and support was terrible at solving the problem. Took 8+ hours of constantly chatting. Use a carrier that actually has real customer service.

They lost my number when I was porting in also. I went back and forth with their customer support for over a month and got nowhere. Only thing that got it resolved eventually was filing a complaint with FCC. I have had no issues with the service since getting that fixed, but stories of their customer service issues are sadly very true.

I was a happy user of Visible for almost four years. Quite a deal for $25 month *including all taxes and junk fees*. Until ...

I decided to port my landline (actually VoIP) number to Visible. This is a little bit more complicated than mobile to mobile, so the carrier has to do it right. Ooma released the number right away and it was transferred to Verizon, but Visible didn't provision it in their system.

Their customer support is insane, as it has no provision for maintaining progress on a ticket. Every chat in must start from the beginning. I engaged with them 17 times over three weeks and every call was the same. Half an hour to arrive at the same place as before, only to be told they guarantee it would be done in the next 24 hours. They blamed Ooma, of course, but I pointed out that when you called the number, it announced that it was on Verizon's network. I said "just call it!". They said they had no facilities for placing a phone call. Every chat was torturing with most of waiting for them to type was to have a bot say "We are very sorry you are having this problem," .. wait 5 minutes ... "I will do the needful to get it resolved", ... wait 5 minutes .. "Your satisfaction is our priority", etc.

Yep, dealt with the same issue. It took 2 weeks to resolve. Many hours spent on the phone with their support levels. I found the magical person that resolved it in 30 minutes after many could not.

Never go with Visible. I live in a major city and had such shit service that it would stop me from being able to reliably provide myself with subway directions on multiple occasions while out and about.

My music apps wouldn't buffer on the subway, meaning it would stop playing between every stop as well.

worst of all, it's nearly impossible to get a customer service rep. when i'd finally had enough and switched to t mobile (family was similarly fed up and we all moved) i kept getting the run around with their chatbot. there is NO customer service phone number, meaning if anything happens, you're completely out of luck. I spent hours upon hours trying to complete the switch because the bot was totally unhelpful.

beware, "same towers" may be true, but same internet speed and same service are definitely not.

I had Visible before they released these plans and increased the rates. That change caused us to have zero service. CSR said it was being fixed and tried several things over multiple days, but never restored service. The issue was documented all over Reddit. Needless to say, after 10 days of no service, we switched back to Verizon because Visible simply doesn't compare in reliability. I was definitely more than patient with them in the switch to the new plans but 10 days without service was a huge problem.

How bad would it be if you lost your phone number or didn't have service for a week? Would it bother you to spend 10 hours resolving an issue? I'd weigh that against whatever money you're saving on this plan.

So... are you feeling lucky? You'll probably be fine. laugh out loud

Idk, wouldnt tmo post paid to mvno be a step down in service, particularly the $15 plan? Just off the top of my head, tmo has value add calling FROM (roaming) canada, this basic mvno plan does not..
