It's been a while since the last holiday season.

The release of College Football 25 has driven up console sales in July and Aug. Its inclusion on Game Pass is speculated to have increased sales of the xbox s. PS5 went up about 25% YOY, xbox x/s is up 48% YOY.

For that matter, it is normal for college kids moving into their dorms to drive up sales in a lot of home goods, laptops, and inexpensive / low end electronics related to entertainment, etc. Generally the parents are not willing to splurge and the kids want their stuff when they move in or shortly after and can't / won't wait until the next sale are depleting the used market

The problem with this is now you're stuck with Gamestop credit.

I will consider trading in my S if store credit can be used for digital currency. I know how GameStop is very stingy when it comes to using their gift card or $5 monthly coupon on them.

I was informed by a clerk back in 2017-2018 that I could get GameStop credit in MS/Xbox store credit and have done it a few times since (including upgrading my secondary console from a One X to a Series S for ~$80 net in 2021). Make sure the clerk knows you want Xbox credit, and at the end of the trade-in process, you get a code on your receipt that you redeem to your MS account for the exact amount of your store credit trade-in. Then you can use it for anything in the MS/Xbox stores (digital games, consoles, controllers, etc.).

Once I found that out, I watched for bonus days and traded in older games I had lying around because I was moving to digital-only anyway. Even if I was only getting $5-10 per game, it added up, then I'd wait for sales in the Xbox store to buy new games (often for <$20). Then I got into MS Rewards, and that's paid for all my games since 2019 or so.

Is the language "up to" going to cause YMMV problems depending on your GameStop?

The Series S compatibility has delayed game releases for the XBox. Black Myth: Wukong and Baldur's Gate 3 being 2 examples. Targeting two platforms takes more time than just one. Not Microsoft's problem, but it does give extra incentive for PS5 only releases (along with Sony $$$).
Black myth Wukong has a memory leak issue that is present in both the Xbox Series S version AND the PS5 version.

It written like that cause if you missing a controller or any other wire they can deduct the price

If you bring everything and everything is working you will get the max value

This is tempting. But I haven't played Baldurs Gate 3 and Dead Space that I bought from Eneba yet.
I can save those credits for the Switch 2 preorder.

What's the best route to take? Take store credit or cash trade in? IDK what to spend store credit on.
PS5 Pro? I'll be saving mine for Switch 2.

Do these credits stay forever? Or is there an expiry date?
I think the question you have to ask yourself is how long GameStop will stay in business. Don't expect to get that money back if they go bankrupt...which is only a matter of time IMHO.

I ONLY play Fortnite. No other video games, just Fortnite. And I play it on my Xbox one X that I got foe free from a neighbor who was moving. It did not come with a controller. A week and a half later, I was at a goodwill and thankfully came across a one x controller but there was no price tag on it so I slipped it into my pocket and walked out. (They refuse to sell things to you without the price tag, it would have been a while thing) It did not have a battery cover so I had to order 4 of them from Amazon for 4.99. So my Xbox one x for Fortnite costed me 4.99.
You're a piece of shit.

Game Pass is getting more popular. That's making the cheapest Xbox more popular…so demand/supply is driving it.
Doubt it. If they wanted to mess around with Game Pass, the Amazon Firestick is the cheapest way for $20.

The fact is that Game Pass numbers have peaked, along with console numbers. That's why Xbox is trying to get into the PC space and elsewhere (Firestick), to get their numbers up.

Gamestop's cash pile has been growing. They're sitting on a $4+ billion war chest and debt free.

Does anyone know how much they would deduct if you don't have the controller? Only trading in Console, HDMI Cable & Power cord?

20 years ago, people were predicting Sears would go bye bye. 20 years later, they are still here, so you never know.
