Probably to educate obtuse people from buying this outdated tablet.
It would be nice if you took your ignorance elsewhere. I gave my girlfriend my m1 mba and took her iPad mini 4 since she literally never uses it. It is legitimately outdated with its A8 processor and stuck on iOS 15. I set it up to use in my truck for YouTube, YouTube music, Waze and downloaded all the streaming services I have and have used it all weekend and it's still fine to do basic tasks.
I have an iPad Air with the m1 and have used the 9th gen and bought 3 10th gens for the kids and my mom and an iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the 9th gen for the use case for everyone who will be buying a $200 iPad, stupid.
I am trading in my air and pro to get a 13 m4 pro purely because I want an OLED screen but I know there's nothing wrong with previous generations, unlike your pathetic self.
No one agrees or cares what your ignorant self thinks or has to say.
Yes, for the basic tasks. But even used $100 iPad 7th gen can do the basic. I don't understand why people think a brand tablet that has 3 yrs old chip is a bargain at $200. It's better to pay up and buy iPad that has at least M1 chip. Huge performance and future proof difference between A13 and M1 chips.
....I'm not buying that for my children so they can do some Khan Jr things or entertain themselves on a plane.
You're thinking too deep about how people purchase items.

You mean well, but your post is completely unreasonable! 200 dollars for this tech device is Hugely successful, look how many thumbs up and views these 199 dollar Ipad 9th gen threads are generating! There are maybe 3-5 threads all with people posting!
From your post, you seem like a seasoned apple person, but I AM NOT a seasoned apple person. This is my first Ipad since I got the very first one back when Jobs first put it out. Many years ago. And let me tell you, this iPad 9th gen is amazing FOR ME! I liked it so much I bought 2 of them the last 3 months. I am casual user and I set it up with streaming services and plex server or I surf the web, and I fell in love.
You started with your first apple product. And if others told you that you were making a mistake, and you should buy a model that can do AI and other advanced features and should pay 2,000 dollars for brand new Ipad PRO 2024 so you stay ahead of the curve (well, that is how I hear what you are saying) . I bought this device and tons of us bought it and most of us like it. And in future we could be open for buying a more fancy apple product.
Get them now for Xmas before they're all gone and your kids will end up hating you for getting them android tablets. You don't want to be the one guy who's asking a week before Xmas where you can find an iPad for $200.

This is incorrect information. You can still download apps, but a some will need the absolute newest iOS version. I still use my 2017 iPad Pro with zero issues and I'm expecting it to work for most streaming apps and web browsers for a while more.
My 1st gen iPad Pro (2015) is still going strong minus the short battery life. Last September iOS update was the first that it wouldn't get, though it has received a couple of security updates since then. Still great for streaming and web browsing

Sorry, can't hear you over the cha-ching sound that I've been hearing 🤣 I've been using this for my weekend part time and it works perfectly fine, and I upgraded from a 4th Gen so this is not bad at all.
Bought it on Black Friday last year at Portland tax free, win win 👌🏻

Realistically, in your opinion, how much longer, will this 9th Generation iPad be able to be used, for those simple types of tasks? Another 6 months to a year? 2 years? 3 years?
Bingo. You figured apples 2-3 yr useful life of products. Spend $199 or 2-3 yrs or $800 for 3-4 yrs
I have a $3000 PC and I see no difference between this $200 iPad in majority of applications. Not sure what is the expectation here for haters for $200, to run quantum calculations?

Nothing like adding a little humor to the equation! (thanks)

Which generation? I haven't heard of any issues with the 10.5 pro series.
10.5 pro. There was only 1 generation of those. They have a common issue of coils coming loose on the motherboard. Many posts and repair videos show the coils loose or completely fallen off the board.
