This should be the regular price. Skip this edger only and invest in the 40V expand-it line. Mine came as a weed eater but I have added the edger amongst others items from DTO.

Has anyone had luck buying these, keeping the battery, and selling the tool? I saw another one for a string trimmer with a 4ah battery for $99 and was wondering if it was worth trying to sell it off for $50 on Craigslist or something. Batteries rarely seem to go on sale, and when they do still seems like a tool + battery combo is a better deal.

This doesn't look like a bad tool but in my opinion it's going to take up a bit of space for a single tool. I agree with the other person, get the one from the expand-it line. This dedicated tool might be better if you plan to do an industrial level of edging, otherwise I have no complaints with the expand it tool, and it takes up much less space and goes on sale for cheaper (as it's an add on and expects you to have the driver/motor)

If it works for you, I tried it hated it then returned it My curb is curved so couldn't use it, I do however like the regular edgers from Ryobi. The dedicated ones. I got a non brushless model and it's like 6 years old

Any benefit to using an edger over a trimmer to edge with? Is it just a preference thing for most people? I've always gotten a nice clean, deep edge with my DEWALT trimmer - just had to move the handle to make it easier to manage.

I picked one of these up during the last Direct Tools sale. I own a ton of Ryobi stuff and think I have some reasonable expectations. That said, this thing is pretty bad. It died last week after only 8 or 9 uses. I narrowed it down to the controller which is a pretty expensive part and not worth replacing. When it was working it was pretty sloppy. The assembly just isn't rigid. It was floppy and borderline unsafe at times. I wouldn't bother with it.

This is pretty nice. It's way faster than using an edger attachment on an all in one system. It has a single wheel that can drop so that it can level itself for curbs. The time saving is nice. I can almost walk a normal pace doing touch ups every mow, after doing it 2-3 times to create a line. The only thing bad is that it feels super cheap. I don't know how long it will last but hopefully awhile being electric. It's worth it at this price. I bought mine "new" on eBay for about $130 2 months ago. Ahh well.

It's sad that I just need the battery and this is cheaper than the battery alone. Do I just start buying all their tools for the included battery and leave the unwanted tools by the road?

I'm so, so tempted but I think it's just a bit too fiddly for all the tight radiuses in my yard. Seems excellent for long straight runs.

I am in the market for a lawn mower equivalent for a very small yard, about 10' x10'. I have been using ryboi trimmer,does the job but not easy on arms. Any recommendations of something similar to this? I have few ryobi tools including the trimmer but no 40v tools.
