TBF they use microspline hubs not HG.
Road groupsets, even the new 12 speed ones, still use HG. Only MTB and GRX groupsets are on MS.

Why do you want carbon? There's no real advantage to them on a MTB unless you're racing Cross Country. Just look at Industry Nine wheels, hand made in the US.
I am so tempted to get these [theproscloset.com] wheels.

Holy sh*t that's a great deal. Thanks for spotting those!

I really could use these Rovals for my gravel bike, although I'm not in love with the DT 370 hubs and their slow engagement with the stock 18 tooth ratchet. I have these hubs on a MTB wheelset and they're begging for the 54t upgrade, which is pretty expensive at $130.

Was wondering about the warranty on the Rovals....apparently Specialized has a lifetime warranty if you register them. Nice.

But an I9 wheelset with Hydra hubs for $600.....it might be upgrade time for the OEM wheels that came on my Intense 951 Costco special. EDIT: these I9's just went up to $740.00!! Oh well, I really wanted the Rovals anyway. I can just upgrade the ratchet later. EDIT AGAIN on 9/12: now they're $607 but with SRAM XD only.

We Are One whenever they have their next sale. Pick whichever set matches your riding.

Or go with one of the Chinese options like BTLOS. Lot of very happy customers there.

High engagement= high chance of pedal kickback. It will feel rough going downhill on rough terrain.

Plenty of advantages. Lighter and more stiff. Been riding carbon rims exclusively for 13 years. If you can afford them they are a great option for trail and even Enduro.

Thing is the 370 doesn't actually use the ratchets, it's a pawl system. The 350 is where the ratchets start. So this is a good value (best part is the rim) but leaves something to be desired if you are picky about the hubs.

That's a full suspension bike issue when the cranks rotate backward after hitting a bump. Not really a problem on a gravel bike. And I've never had an issue with it on my mtb wheels that have Hydra hubs, although they're on a hardtail.
