It's $934 now with the BUYMORELENOVO code. If a beautiful 120Hz OLED display and an extra 32GB isn't important to you, then you can save an extra $145 but to me, OLED and 32GB is worth way more than $145.

This is not a gaming laptop.

64GB ram is overkill for most of the people and based on that, the other deal is attractive. But, there is Hell & Heaven difference between a 60 Hz 1080p 100% sRGB IPS display and this 120 Hz 2.8K OLED display and I would just go for this model just for that. The additional 32GB of Ram is added bonus.

Would you be willing to weigh your new laptop? So far I've seen 3.4lbs and 3.2lbs, likely differences based on screen choice.

at such a high price I feel like at least they should have thrown in an RTX 4050 or something. If you look at Macs for example they have great GPU performance and dont do gaming, so good GPU performance is useful even in non gaming scenarios

I haven't had a Thinkpad in years and am considering pulling the trigger on this. Does anyone know how the fan noise is on this model? I'm coming from a 6-year-old XPS 13 and the fan is so annoying so I'm looking for something that is quieter.

Dell is known for loud fans. The factory 256 GB and 1 TB P14s models I tested were mostly quiet. After upgrading to a 4 TB SN850X, the fans were noticeable when downloading movies then quiet while watching.

120hz oled with a tiny battery is going to give terrible battery life
I bought the previous thinkpad deal of the lcd version and was very disappointed. There was a dell deal that had a 8840u, almost the same as this deal, for 460 dollars with cashback. The top of the line thinkpad quality from a decade ago is nonexistant with the new models.

The Silm 7 deals is much better for $450.
10-13 battery life on IPS 1800p, 4050M 6gb VRAM, LPDDR 16gb, 1tb ssd

LOL 64gb ram without a powerful gpu, is a waste for CAD and editing

Plus Thankpad with iGPU start at $600

Just received mine. HOLY MOLY. I haven't set up Windows from scratch in a while, and it's truly a garbage experience. There are so many things to click through - no I don't want Game Pass, no I don't want One Drive, no I don't want an advertising ID whatever that is, no I don't want all this shit. I don't even want to use an online account, but it forces you to.

Usually I will wipe the computer immediately and install Ubuntu or Mint, but in this case, Bitlocker (encryption) was enabled by default. Which meant I had to go through the entire Windows setup process (~45 minute click-fest) in order to disable BItlocker. The disabling process wasn't even very clear. After that, I was finally able to install Ubuntu, which only took like 10 minutes start to finish.

Now that everything is set up, this thing is a beast. It's super fast. I have no idea how I could ever use 64 GB of RAM. The screen is gorgeous, although fractional scaling makes things blurry for my work app (Epic). I am going to 100% scaling in order to use Epic, and then leaving it at 150% for regular work. Battery life doesn't seem great, I went from 100% to 65% in about 1.5 hours of office work (Citrix, LibreOffice, Firefox). 120 hz on a non-gaming laptop is amazing. I don't want flashing LED's and crazy logos in order to have a high refresh screen.

Inputs (trackpoint, keyboard) are perfect.

Not sure about gaming performance -- the only game I play these days is Civ IV and that runs on anything.

Overall this is an amazing deal. Windows 11 absolutely blows. Setup took way too long because of Windows hassles. I'd probably still prefer 1900x1200 resolution to avoid fractional scaling hassles. I'm in the fence about keeping it due to that, but leaning towards keeping it.
Windows setup is truly atrocious. If you decide to skip some steps it will harass you in a few days/weeks.

I just got my first MacBook and even that was refreshing in comparison

I have never used a OLED monitor as I was worry about the screen flicking since almost all the OLED screen use PWM to control brightness. The previous version uses 320 HZ pwm panel, but I cannot find any review for this version. Have you notice any screen flicking under low brightness settings, and how's the fan noise? Thanks!

The red center-point ...who uses that still? It's a thing of past.

Just give a high quality track pad...Windows multi touch/gestures does the needed from software side
Some folks (allegedly) like it. Personally, I just dock a mouse and Lenovo's touchpad is pretty good, so I don't value it over a standard laptop keyboard. I do value the "feel" of Lenovo higher end laptops with the nice amount of spacing in between keys making it easier to touch type. The red dot also opens a special quick menu if you double tap it, but the options in the quick menu are meh Lenovo stuff.

Having had a brief few weeks of hell using a Mac office computer before going back to Windows, I'd say Mac products are overrated. I see them as having a certain level of above-average specs, catchy style, and a premium price point, with a good amount engineered lock in.

A big reason why someone else wouldn't want a 4050 or any other discrete graphics card in a laptop are: gaming does nothing for the user if they don't game, adds weight, adds power draw, and takes up a limited amount of space in a space constrained platform. There are usually tradeoffs in everything.

I think you can downgrade to a 1900 x 1200 IPS and save some money, and presumably return what you ordered? But past comments were unclear whether the codes still work -- no reason why they wouldn't?

Lenovo Legion is the model for that
As far as I know they don't have models with wwan/esim in that line.

I had a slim 5 recently that I returned due to terrible battery consumption.
