Immediately checked on the Joe Jr hoping for a similar discount. No dice. 😔

Solid price though, on the standard. Should be front page in a bit, assuming it lasts that long.

For anyone asking if this is a good price, I would consider this an instant buy price if you're looking to get into Kamado cooking. Mine came in about three weeks ago from the last time it was on sale in perfect condition and love using it about three times a week.

Top three things from my head:

- This model will fit about 2 pure racks of ribs....maybe 3 if you slice one in half. Not the worst at all, but you'll need extenders.

- UNPACK IT FULLY BEFORE MOVING. The plates are packed in the grill so if you're like many of us you'l be fussing and cussing pushing it around. Take the plates out and boom - easy carry for a strong man, or super easy for two regular folks.

- Lump charcoal is everyone's friends with these.

BONUS: Invest in a coal basket. SO MUCH EASIER TO CLEAN. Amazon had 'em for like $40. The moment I saw a video discussing that I quickly did so and yep - just pick it up, shake, and wipe. Boom.

On Youtube is a guy named The Smoking Dad who will tell you how to use it. He's not the bible but he's great at fooling around. Kamado itself has some great series with someone named Eric who will get you off to the races as well. I've owned mine since the first same in July and outside my first time where the flame went out I've been eating good!!!

Which coal basket do you recommend?

Not listed as a smoker? Does it do a good job or should I look for an actual smoker, too?

A few "nice to have" (some unnecessary haha) upgrades or enhancements you can do on these (in no particular order):

1) Smokeware Cap - https://smokeware.com/products/kj-chimney-cap
2) Automated fan (Fireboard, Flame Boss, Inkbird, Smobot, Billows, etc) - I use the Thermoworks Billows https://www.thermoworks.com/billows/ with a Thermoworks Signals. My friend gave me his old Smoke X and that was cool but I decided to upgrade to something with an app.
3) Wireless probes (I use Meater but there are tons of options out there)
4) Gasket - the gasket that comes with these is felt. I haven't updated mine yet but may replace with one of the fiberglass ones (https://www.amazon.com/Wire-Mesh-...0D3YZ79F6)
5) Grill gun or similar torch for lighting charcoal - I was actually using my TS8000 before picking up something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Propane-Ad...0CH2L9939. Haven't used it yet but my friend has one, I saw it in action, and was immediately convinced that I "need" one (even though I use my KJ like twice a year LOL)
6) Kick ash (or similar style) basket - https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-...B09S5MFCLJ - use this in place of the stock plate, where ash will clog up the holes, etc

I'm sure there are more 'upgrades' that others have figure out or come up with but these are a good starting point Smilie

Yes, it is an excellent smoker. Holds low temps for a long time without needing to refuel and keeps meat moist via convection. Just as good if not better than other types of smokers. The beauty of this is you can cook low and slow or at very high temperatures as well. It does it all.

We almost had this last year for a similar price. The freight driver pulls the pallet off the truck and shakes his head and says, "Don't think you're going to want this." It was shattered to pieces. We wanted to get a replacement, but it was like pulling teeth trying to communicate with Walmart. It took about a month but we got a refund (even though we wanted a replacement) - was just nearly impossible to talk to anyone about this. Horrendous customer service.
