If they really want people to buy these, sale prices should be something like 512GB - $40, 1TB - $75 and 2TB - $125

Game pass is an unbeatable deal for grown ups who can't keep up with new releases….. but yeah I agree. Nothing very exciting this generation

Maybe when this drops to $130 it would be a good deal for 2TB. I'll stick with PC for now.

I'm glad the prices are coming down, but it's still ridiculous that 1TB costs $200 in 2024.
This is the 2TB for $200. Now, you can complain that $200 is too much for the 2TB Big Grin

Not a bad deal, now do the 1TB for $100 with some inventory to actually buy!
Check out staples. I got mine last week for $65 ($15 back with rewards).

S/O to Xbox coordinating with partners to hit back with controller and expandable storage deals the same week Sony raised Dual Sense prices. Copped for my XSX Galaxy edition pre-order.

I mean they kind had to with how bad the xbox is selling vs PS/Switch

Still so overpriced for 2tb WTH xbox! I blame the engineers. Why not use a an m.2 smh
There really isn't a good reason, I have a 4tb m.2 drive in the PS5 (cost less than 130 via Amazon around a year ago) and it plays every thing fine, they really should have allowed m.2 for gameplay, or subsided the storage if they insisted, but instead they made it proprietary, only allowed one company (now only 2) to produce drives. They aren't doing Xbox or gamepass (my main reason for wanting extra storage) any favors.

That's how I feel. When I got my Series X I figured I would eventually get one of these when the prices came down. Now that they finally are, I've realized that I only really play at most two or three games at a time, so there's no point in me having a million games installed at once. I guess if you have a shared family console or switch between a bunch of online multiplayer type games this could make sense, but I mostly play single player story-based games and smaller indie games, so there's no compelling reason for me to have a ton installed at the same time.
Don't forget…some folks have capped data plan. Don't want to download several times as to go over the limit.

I used to be fine with download, delete, redownload over the years but realize it a waste of data. Now if I get unlimited then it would be a different story but for some folks with limitations, this deal make perfect sense

These ridiculous prices have me running to PC, Steam Deck. Copped me a 2tb for $110 and I'm good to go! Just waiting for 2tb for Sony for $100.

Realistically the 2TB expansion cards shouldn't even be $150 after 4 years...
That because you assume folks, like u for example, have waited 4 years for a better deal of this. They or you do lose from this pointless delayed satisfaction/gratification.

I returned to gaming after a long hiatus. I and others don't wait forever for a perfect deal nor bother care…and I got nothing to lose. I'll wait for the $100 1 TB option

The fact that the price for additional external storage is almost half the cost of the console itself is absolutely ridiculous...

100% agree. Just got into this gen of gaming last month and loving game pass. I'll probably only do digital from now on. And free GP with Microsoft rewards every month. Best deal around. A guy selling 1TB WD cards on Mercari for $80 new, and $10 new customer bonus. So got my 1TB Xbox upgraded to 2 for $70.

That's not what people who saw it in action are saying on Twitter.
Digital Foundry broke down specs, it's not very much difference.

Check out Mercari I bought a new WD 1TB for $70 brand new on there. Guy still selling them for $80 and you can get a new customer $10 code to bring price down, minus a few fees.

His handle is Docboi95 and he shipped it to me in less than 4 days. Just google the new customer deal for $10 off. Was a great deal for me.

I literally just watch them the day before for what they want to see. 4k@60, some games running 120fps, and some games running at 4k@60 with ray tracing on...is this not what they promoted in the sony live today? I watch one of them say he was hoping for gt7 to run the game with ray tracing on while you drive and not just in the menu. We got that plus 8k racing. What were you hoping for 240fps?

Good point on the data caps. Going over that to redownload something you already own could get costly. I'd say going physical can help, but anymore the update fixes and added content distributed in patches to everyone are just as big as the base game. Never mind games with changing content every few months like Apex Legends or Fortnite.

That aside, I'd suggest an external HDD for situations like that. It can't run current-gen games natively so you need to spend time transferring from the external drive to the internal before you can play, but Xbox One and 360 games run just fine from it, it's cheaper than the SSD by a longshot, and, with my 300mbps bandwidth, transferring is faster than downloading the game fresh. Just make sure to turn off auto-updates to prevent it from eating into your data when everything is updating in the background.
