Additionally, tracking price trends for the 6 and 7 in the wake of the next gen releases, it seems that the best you can hope for is about the $400 within a year of release of the following model and around the $350 point when two models have been released. The 7 is going for $350 now, but that is its lowest price by $75-$100 for a year. Again, I am speaking NEW and unlocked devices with no activation or trade-in.
So I think at $400 or maybe a bit less (with sale/return of watch) this seems like a pretty solid deal if you are considering the 8. I'm not sure we will see a better deal this holiday season, although we may see it dip as low as $350, but probably not until Q3 next year and that assumes inventory and Google doesn't pull it from their store like they did the 6 and 6a.
At this point it seems like refunds should have processed for some of the first purchasers.
What I'm seeing in my cart is this:
Pixel 8 - $499 - $179.35 discount = $319.65
Watch - $279.99 - $100.64 discount = $179.35
Total without tax = $499
So, if one can return the watch and get back $179.35, that's $319.65 for the phone.
That would seem an exceptional deal for a new, unlocked 8 with no activation/trade-in required.
Again, I believe we are unlikely to see it lower than this for another year and even then, perhaps not.
