I'll wait when it's $1999
That was for the 4070 version which is handicapped by a soldered, non-upgradeable 16 GB of RAM. Looking back historically, Asus is discounting all of their Zephyrus computers periodically, but that discount was particularly steep given the revulsion to the 16GB of RAM which angered a lot of us. It was heavily discounted given the absurdity of a nearly $2k laptop with 16GB of RAM. This version is well equipped, but the price is still absurdly high. A +$900 "on sale" price premium down from an eyes-bleeding $1300 price premium is still a pretty crazy markup for 32 vs 16GB of RAM, a 4080 vs a 4070 and a vapor chamber to cool it. Great computer, obnoxious greedy executives who bungled the pricing and specs.

The 16GB 4070 shouldn't exist, there should be a 32GB 4070 version for $1600 and a 32GB 4080 version for $2k. Those would sell very well. Too bad Asus messed up.
@Dr. Wajahat - I noticed you're on top of the Zephryus G16 4070 deals. Any idea when this might get back down to $1399 or $1499?
