I have been wanting to purchase this book, but was waiting for it to go on sale. I like the author from a few different podcasts I've listened to. Thanks for posting!

Luckily she is a small part of the book. I'm not an Oprah fan and her commentary is easily skipped. The rest of the book is incredibly well thought out and written. I would encourage anyone to spend $3 for this one. Practical advice that works.

All these people trashing Oprah, but having nothing bad to say except that she's rich now… What do you really have against her?

She wasn't always rich and her path to where she is now was not an easy one. I'm willing to bet her early life was much more difficult than those of the people hating on her.

Arthur C. Brooks is the primary writer (Harvard professor). I've found him to be a very good and thoughtful writer.

Probably sold more books if they kept Oprah name off of it.

Remember Oprah had the gates to her compound locked up so people didn't have access when they needed to flee the fires.

Afterwards, Oprah and the Rock put out some fundraising request, asking American public for money to help but no talk of matching or even donating some of their own wealth towards the cause. While native Hawaiians struggle to even receive land promised to be returned to them from the US government. People are on 40 year old waiting list for a home that the US government stole from natives over a century ago.

Her being rich is one of the few things that I don't mind about her. Instinctively I don't want to be exposed to any books she's associated with.

A few days ago I saw an ad where Oprah was asking Everyone to donate to a cause that she liked. I forgot what insignificant cause it was but no one has money right now and if she wants her pet charities done she has all of her money to do it. Cheaper to instruct other people into donating.

So you don't like that she… *checks notes* encourages people to be charitable?

You forgot to mention that she responded very quickly and opened the gates to allow people to use her private access road to escape the fires. I don't agree with the way Hawaii's been r*ped, but you're misrepresenting what actually happened.

If you knew how charity funds were raised, funneled, and squandered, …well on second thought, you'd be fine.

If virtually all charity was eliminated, minimum wage would be $85 an hour and if you didn't work, you just have to starve to death . That is not a ten-year plan that I am announcing, that's just a realistic minimum estimate. Of course few would starve to death because people would be wealthy enough not to stand for it. They could certainly afford helping someone out. Believe it or not there is such thing as an affluent society with 12 hour work weeks. It's just a matter of not looking at money how people look at money and instead looking at everything around us as dust. Priorities are to minimize war and to minimize manual labor. This will be figured out by mechanical engineers, physicists, CAD modelers, industrial designers, agriculturalists, mathematicians, robotics and programmers, not politicians. It will work in a capitalistic mechanism which creates incentive for these important people to keep grinding their minds for solutions. They will not because they are well fed and bored.

Dude, if minimum wage was 85 an hour cars would start at a quarter mil and those on minimum wage would still be barely getting by. Plenty of bad charities our there, so use charity navigator. But don't poo on the concept of charity.
