How much do you expect for a non-carrier promotion for a 4-year old base model phone?

AT&T & T-Mobile offer $1K value for iPhone 12 with their premium plans. Many are buying it for trading in with their carrier. Already got a 12 from Metro last deal, which was $50 more.

Keeping my current phones (13 and higher) as spares so I can trade these in instead for less.

If you don't auto-pay or extend service, there is nothing to cancel. You just stop paying. Based on what I have read, device should auto unlock after 12 months from activation and continued service is not required.

Check out the unlock policy link I shared earlier.

12 is my favorite, was a full redesign from 11 and before. Lighter and much easier to use than the 16 Pro I just got today. Hardly anything missing on 12 - battery life being less, dynamic island and camera being older are the real differences after 4 years!

This is a fantastic deal, 12 months wait being the only challenge. Or just use it for trade in.

Looking forward to 17 Slim (and hopefully lighter phone).
Storage is the only killer. That's why 13 with 128gb base storage and SIM slot is still in high demand with no deals.

100% yes. AMOLED screen and better camera. I had both.

Anyone know if it's possible to order this, then port the number from metro to visible in the first 30 days to take advantage of the $15 unlimited plan promo?

I was considering doing that and either using an RSIM to bypass carrier lock, or using my iPhone 11 that just recently unlocked from total by verizon.
Yes. I moved a number from Tracfone to Metro to buy this phone. Later, moved the number to Visible for $15/month with BYEBYETMO code.

do you just sign up for this and pay $75 for 1 month, then stop paying and just transfer the phone to Visible and it works even though the phone is locked? how do you do this if the phone is locked?

That don't work. You need new name, address, credit card. Basically a brand new person.
I've purchased two devices from Metro in the past using two email addresses. Can't say it will work now

Phone is to trade in and not to use on Visible. Just the number.

I gave the Visible service to someone who needed it for cheap. I needed just the phone to trade-in with T-Mo. Auto Pay is not enabled by default with Metro. If intent is to move to Visible, don't wait till end of first month service in Metro.

If you have an unlocked 11, just port to Visible using eSIM. Takes only a few mins.

Thanks! I appreciate the quick reply. It's for my dad, he has an old iPhone 7 that Visible says is not compatible with its network so he needs a new phone. Was looking to see if he could get this phone through metro and quickly switch it to Visible using the new phone, but concerned about whether this can be done since it's locked to metropcs. Would be fine switching immediately to visible if possible.

A $12 Rsim can get this phone unlocked.
how do you do that?

Won't be immediate

You need to activate the phone via link they send you (can be done before you open the phone) and then get the SMS with code to let you in to the account. And it has to be from that particular phone! Metro ties SIM to IMEI

Changing that IMEI to which it's tied requires you to log in
I wanted to order 2 in one order but looks like you can only order 1 if you are new. so I need to wait for the phone to arrive and activate and then I login into my account to get another?

I bought this Rsim. I tested with T-Mobile sim and Helium Mobile sim. Both works. Some people said it doesn't work on Verizon.
