? ipads + magic keyboards + apple pencils are universally loved by college students for its highly dynamic note taking abilities + utilities + apps available for ipads. imagine how non-ergonomic + bulky trying to use a macbook touch screen would be (even on the smallest macbook airs). this combination fills a niche that cannot be filled by anything else. imho it has nothing to do with them worrying about cannibalizing ios sales. and lastly, the effectiveness of an ipad for actual lecture note taking in college is unfathomable unless you actually enroll yourself in another college level course and actually use an ipad for said use again just my opinion.
lol. of course it's all about cannibalization.

Why can't I install/run dmg, pkg, or app files in my M2 iPad pro? It's the same hardware architecture as all current Macs. Apple makes excellent hardware and gives users the feeling that they are thoughtful of the consumer's "experience", but they are so anti-consumer it's literally gotten them sanctioned by the EU and now sued by the FTC.

And don't get me started on the hoops you have to jump through just to install 'unprefered' by Apple software on Macs in Sonoma, with no opt out, even for advanced users. No, I don't want to spend $40 on some trash from the App store when I can use a FOSS program from GitHub, which I can review the source code of and run a hash against. Thank god Homebrew has mostly been left alone for now.

I'm typing this out on my MacBook Pro, so I'm not hater. But we can and should criticize when the situation warrants it.

I have an earlier version of this and the pencil exposed is a definite issue, and also I cannot flip the keyboard over completely to open the case when I am using the iPad while standing, etc. I HAVE to use it on a table, so I simply do not use the keyboard. I have different cases that are much more usable.

Sad, because I love the feel of the keyboard, but I so rarely use the iPad with the KB that it is simply an annoyance.
Lmfao, the pencil exposed isn't a definite issue. If you're putting it in a bag, removed the pencil and put it in a case. Pretty simple.
And you don't HAVE to use it on a table. Your lap works very well sitting or laying down with it. It's also easy to remove it from the keyboard to use standing.
I had the previous keyboard with previous iPads and this keyboard with my 13" pro and simply remove it when I don't want to use the keyboard. They make magnetic cases to use it in portrait mode.
You sound like someone who makes things an issue when there isn't an issue πŸ˜‚

I had the previous Magic Keyboard case and it didn't work with m4i iPad . I bought the new magic iPad keyboard and returned the old case back to some dumb target customer service associate.

This keyboard is sweet. Tested it at Costco. Too expensive for my taste. I would have to cut back on the Starbucks and avocados πŸ₯‘ toast to afford it.

$216 for a keyboard and $1000 for an ipad.. why not just get a apple laptop at that point lol
This is true and why it's optional. Sort of like the MS Surface pro where they initially give you both, but not everyone needs both unless necessary. which most artists end up not doing.

So you stole it.
Peter Gibbons: [Explaining the plan] Alright so when the sub routine compounds the interest is uses all these extra decimal places that just get rounded off. So we simplified the whole thing, we rounded them all down, drop the remainder into an account we opened.
Joanna: [Confused] So you're stealing?
Peter Gibbons: Ah no, you don't understand. It's very complicated. It's uh it's aggregate, so I'm talking about fractions of a penny here. And over time they add up to a lot.
Joanna: Oh okay. So you're gonna be making a lot of money, right?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Joanna: Right. It's not yours?
Peter Gibbons: Well it becomes ours.
Joanna: How is that not stealing?
Peter Gibbons: [pauses] I don't think I'm explaining this very well.
Joanna: Okay.
Peter Gibbons: Um... the 7-11. You take a penny from the tray, right?
Joanna: From the cripple children?
Peter Gibbons: No that's the jar. I'm talking about the tray. You know the pennies that are for everybody?
Joanna: Oh for everybody. Okay.
Peter Gibbons: Well those are whole pennies, right? I'm just talking about fractions of a penny here. But we do it from a much bigger tray and we do it a couple a million times.

You don't need to draw or write for 95% of all courses. A $2 pad and laptop will suffice.

When a device (Surface) tries to do multiple purposes (tablet and PC in this case), it usually ends up not doing either well.

Coz no touchscreen. Apple should offer a combo device or laptop with touchscreen macOS for a premium for business users or sth…

I don't think that's going to fly.

1. When a user buys a Chromebook do they expect to run Windows on it, even if it's x86?
2. Does Apple market the iPad as being able to run MacOS?

Anyone know if this is compatible with the M1 iPad Pro? Listing only says it's compatible with the current M4 iPad Pro.
