So it's actually larger than you'd expect, but you'll have a lot of wasted screen space unless you have square media
So the poles need to be about the size they are. If you cut off the screen for the top portion only, you still have to finish the end (same amount of processing/labor), then you need to make sure the structure is reasonably sturdy. Do you have to add another pole across the bottom of the better fitting screen? Add a bracket to ensure the bottom of the screen stays in place?
The screen gets more complex with more parts pretty fast. Keep it simple is the way to keep it cheap.

Get two and over lap it you can get ,16:9 and even more
The screen is badly creased where it was folded and crumpled where it was tied to the folded poles. Maybe I need a steamer.
There's no elastic in the screen mounts so there's nothing pulling the screen flat.
Once I get the screen flat I'm going to wrap it around a tube so it doesn't wrinkle. I'll put one fold in it across the bottom so it's short enough to fit in the storage bag. I think the crease will be below the top 16x9. Fabric covered hairbands will tension the screen.
I'm not sure exactly how, but I'm sure that the support structure could double as a sun shade.
Now I just need a projector.
