For edge straightening I used another jig that holds the board straight (using clamps) while I make a table saw pass.
The only downside to this tool is the "mobile base". It's better than nothing but it really doesn't move easily. Fine for occasional use but if your shop is smaller and you are constantly moving it, it's completely inadequate. I ended up putting it on an all-swivel base, which works great, but you'll be out at least another $150 doing so.
I had to look back, I picked this up on sale for $1950 (plus the same $289 freight) in august 2023. I had been eying jointers for awhile leading up to this. For the features this is about as good a price you'll get for this level tool. If it's on your list I'd go for it.
I wouldn't even dream of this thing for medium sized projects. I can understand ditching a floor jointer if you have limited space and no large projects, or if you can get by with a router table / table saw jig or similar for stuff under 4'. When I finally get that near-retirement-shop though, this thing would be sweeeeeeet. One day. Hopefully someone's already there.
