Anyone know how the trade ins work? They didn't mention until I got the order confirmation in my email that the iPhone 11 I'm trading in will be credited via "bill credits". Thing is, I plan on paying the phone 16 I bought from them off by the end of the free year. (Instead of the 3 years of payments they've suggested billing me for)

So will I still be getting my total of $182 trade in amount off if I pay the phone off early, unlock, and proceed port out of spectrum? Or does that trade in amount (includes a $100 value bonus promo) only count if I stay with them for 3 years? I only pay $14 for service on Tello for more service than I even need, so honestly don't plan on sticking with Spectrum past the free year of service.

Would suck having to choose between forfeiting the remainder of my trade in "credits", or paying double my usual phone bill for two years.
When you bought the phone, did you select the payment plan option? If you did the payment plan, you'll get the trade value in 36 monthly credits, so you'll probably lose the remaining 24 months of credits if you leave after the first year. Only way to get the trade-in credit all at once is paying full value for the phone.

If you go that route, you can do it at a Spectrum store and you get the credit immediately, instead of mailing it in and waiting.

I got the free line last month, plus the Pixel 9 Pro XL with $500 and $121 trade-in value for my iPhone SE (2020). It was a good deal and totally worth it. Think I paid $63 tax, so it ends up costing me $541 out of pocket, but it's financed so I end up paying only $13.33/month until I decide I want to unlock the phone for selling.
If it's financed, are you getting 36 bill credits for the SE? You might lose the remaining credits when you cancel the line.

None of my unlocked phones pass the IMEI test. Any suggestions for a cheap phone to buy, prefer Motorola, if possible, TY!
One option is to snag it from Spectrum and trade in a clunker phone if you have it for 100 dollar off plus whatever phone is valued at. Do in store, though. And it'll be unlocked in two months or so

Who provides spectrum with service?
Seems like it is through Verizon, I just activated a line through this deal and I tried speed testing through Speedtest App, I could see that speedtest was able to detact my connection it shows Verizon Wireless 5G.
I able to get 965Mbps download and 34.3 Mbps Upload.

Question... Will this work?
- Buy a cheap, spectrum-locked phone off Swappa for $50 (probably a Galaxy a03s).
- Get it activated.
- Swap the SIM card into my a54.
- Recycle the original phone.

Why the hell would I do this?
My current phone (Galaxy a54) is with US Mobile on the Verizon network. Works great. Like the phone. Don't want to upgrade.

But, Spectrum doesn't activate Galaxy A series phones that originally came from Tracfone like mine did. It fails Spectrum's IMEI check.

Alternate ideas are:
- Buy a phone from Spectrum and swap the SIM, but their cheapest smartphone is the a15 at $200, less $100 if I can dig up a trade-in. I was also considering the a35, which is a lot like my a54, but it's overpriced at $300 ($200 with trade). Paying $200+ for basically the same phone I have now isn't a great deal.

Can anyone point me to a cheap unlocked phone that will work for this for a 13 yr old their TracFone one won't be compatible

That should work

If you go through ebay, you can maybe find and then run the IMEI on Spectrum site to be absolutely sure it'll be accepted for service

Trying a different workaround for the failed IMEI check. I'll keep you updated if it works...

- Go to https://www.imei.info/imei_generator/
- Generate an IMEI for a Google Pixel 6 Pro
- Use that when registering online with Spectrum. The IMEI will be accepted, and they will send you a SIM kit free.

Use that SIM in whatever phone you have that will work on the Verizon network. In my case, I know my Galaxy a54 works on Verizon.

So, I'm past the first hurdle. Next, we'll see if it activates.

If it doesn't, the SIM kit was free. No risk.

considering that Total wireless is $15/month, that's the most this deal is worth.

Can't you just use an IMEI generator and then one you receive a physical SIM pop it into a different phone? Or do they tie the SIM to your IMEI?

when i signed up for spectrum mobile in the past, I just used an IMEI generator to get a valid imei.

then swapped the sim into my 'unsupported' motorola phone. it worked.

I got spectrum Internet + the free voice line in early Sept. Do I qualify for another free line? I went through checkout, but it's not showing as 0. Should I wait til Oct and try again?

thanks for that but I guess I don't have it... its weird, I do see a banner that says if I move I can bring Spectrum internet with me and I'll get a year free of mobile but I don't see the banner that says 1 yr free mobile, maybe it's because I have a mobile line with them already
You may have to call in to get deal if you don't see the online offer. I got an e-mail the other day that says, since I have internet I qualify for a free mobile line.
Here's their digits: 1855-535-7208.
