The finish is probably not what you're expecting from the pictures. Think of the finish on old IKEA furniture of the same color.

To elaborate on this for others: the finish isn't so much "worn" (as though it were relic-ed) as it is a muted color without much gloss. It's hard to call it matte because there is a LITTLE bit of gloss. The neck is painted also. The feel isn't quite satin, but definitely not gloss. The necks are not perfectly smooth, having a deep grain that can be felt. It isn't objectionable, but, again, it's not absolutely smooth in the way a satin Fender Player or painted Gibson neck would be. You can zoom in on the photos at the OP link and see what I'm talking about.

They ARE attractive and sound pretty good. These have the Classic Pro pickups, which are a bit hotter and more modern than the ProBuckers Epiphone puts on some of their nicer Les Pauls. I replaced the ProBuckers in a different Epi LP because I thought the neck in particular was simply too dark. I'd probably prefer the Classic Pros myself.

I agree that this is a pretty decent guitar for $400 if you like the look and feel.

Finally, most Guitar Centers have at least one of these in stock, which makes it easy to try it out. You can even try getting them to match the "10% off in cart" deal. The "Traditional Pro" line is a Guitar Center/Musician's Friend exclusive.

I have Traditional Pro (gold top). I wonder what's changed between 0 and 4, besides price?

Just as an FYI, local Guitar Center matched MF sale price and the 10% off.
