Well I bought a similar product few years ago and stopped using it after just couple of months. The reason is, when you drive in the morning or in the afternoon and may have a commute time around 30-40 minutes depending on the traffic, the sun hits directly at your phone and makes the phone very hot. My iPhone frequently showed the "iphone needs to cool down before you can use it" message. I still have it installed and it still hasn't melted as the quality was really good but I don't want to sacrifice my phone battery so don't use it anymore.

Get one that attaches to the air vent. The a/c keeps the battery from overheating

How bout one that has a built-in phone cooler/wireless charger. So you don't have to worry bout your phone overheating or having a low battery.

Then comes winter and...

FYI I do use a vent-mounted holder as I don't like the idea of applying adhesive to my dash or attaching a suction cup to my screen. But even in SoCal winters, where I don't have to run the heater much but still do vent in warm air, my phone has gotten noticeably warm or an alert pops up and my phone gets relegated to the cup holder. I've yet to find the perfect mount that isn't also obtrusively large.

I live north and that's exactly what I did. The only thing is in the winter I have to close the vent when it blows hot air.

Yeah no way I'm putting adhesive on my dashboard. That sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I've been using this one for the better part of a decade now and it still works as good as the day I opened it: https://www.amazon.com/IPOW-Anti-...B01GCI7BCI The silicone bottom grips the dash from just friction. You can throw it on the dash and take it off whenever you want. It doesn't slide at all. The only issue I ever have with it is if I gun it from a stop. Then the phone will try to tip forward but it's not often I do that and I've gotten used to just putting my hand out for a brief second to keep it from tipping.

I don't understand this, because heat rises. That means if you turn on the heater, simply put it on feet. The heat will rise and the car will generally go to a single temperature, but it doesn't need to blow out of the dash vents.

The only other thing I put heat on, is basically feet and windshield...

IMO, I would avoid putting your cell phone on the dashboard. I mount mine lower so it's not in direct sunlight which is not good for your battery especially in the summer time.

Not everyone has a new car buddy. Old ones don't even have a display.

I can connect my phone wirelessly but I don't. I prefer to manually plug it in rather than always having my phone auto connect to CarPlay when I don't want it to

Anybody have real life experience with this holder? I'm in fl and it's 95 degree outside so it's almost 150-200 inside and other mounts just pretty much melt
I live in Florida. Also, I had something similar to this. Don't get it! You'll regret it
