A good rule of thumb with anything refrigerating device is to let it sit for 24 hours after delivery to let the coolant and compressor oil settle. After 24 hours of sitting upright and level in the place, it will be in use, then plug it in.

During transportation, these fluids shift around, and if plugged in like that, the oil can block the refrigerant from circulating properly, inadequate lubrication of the compressor causing damage, and decrease efficiency.

I'm pretty positive all of the complaints that we are seeing here are exactly caused by this small detail.

Samsung are some of the worst as far as fridges.

Not to be an a-hole, but I'd probably find a new repairman if I were you. They're clearly not very experienced.

Samsung and LG make nice fridges but...reliable?? Samsung fridges are widely regarded as some of the most problematic [usatoday.com] fridges on the market. LG has literally had multiple class-action [consumerreports.org]lawsuits, including another one filed just this year [nbcwashington.com], regarding its faulty compressors.

I'm not saying I wouldn't buy fridges from either brand, but it's definitely misinformed if not disingenuous to say 2 of the least reliable fridge brands on the market are the most reliable.

I'm in the market for a new fridge, oven, and microwave. Current kitchen setup is about 30 years old, Kenmore, and never seen a repair man. Everything has just worked. Now they are breaking down one by one. Microwave first couple of months ago, then the oven last week, only the fridge is going strong.

All these comments about LG, Samsung, etc, scare me. What is a good, reliable setup?

I'm not saying price is no object, but I'm saying I might pay the price to last another 30 years.
There is no longer an independent brand. All are made by one or two low quality manufacturers with customized fancy display control panels. Visit showrooms and you will see the bare bones are all made from the same material and structures.

Stay away from Maytag. They are terrible. We recently bought a Maytag washer and it made noise that as loud as an aircraft. Returned and replaced with Samsung. We are happy now
I also bought a Maytag washer. It's a piece of junk. I hate it.

i have a sears brand since 1996... still works like a champ but i admit i would like a new one Big Grin
I've had an Amana in my home since 1987 and I've never had to call a repairman. More remarkably, we have a GE from the 1950's in a boathouse.. It sits in freezing cold temps all winter long and then works like a charm summer after summer!

Agree with Hamoodi. My fridge repair guy told me that GE, Samsung and LG are the most reliable. The less gimmicky electronics the better. The ones with lots of electronics break down fast. You just need a fridge that works and reliable.
Many lines in your post make no sense. Samsung and LG are not the most reliable when it comes to fridges. Also, this particular fridge is as far from gimmicky as you can get. It's a basic, no frills fridge, lol 😂

You're either making this up for some reason, or you need a new repair guy.

Samsung fridges and reliable don't belong in the same zip code.

How do y'all maintain garage fridges?
Keep it full. I've had a garage fridge for 40 years. I buy a new one every ten years or so. My old one goes to the garage. My still working old garage unit gets sold on C list for 100 bucks.

Sounds like y'all don't know how to properly use your appliances. I bought a new Maytag washer and refrigerator at the same time and they're outstanding.
