A good rule of thumb with anything refrigerating device is to let it sit for 24 hours after delivery to let the coolant and compressor oil settle. After 24 hours of sitting upright and level in the place, it will be in use, then plug it in.

During transportation, these fluids shift around, and if plugged in like that, the oil can block the refrigerant from circulating properly, inadequate lubrication of the compressor causing damage, and decrease efficiency.

I'm pretty positive all of the complaints that we are seeing here are exactly caused by this small detail.

Samsung are some of the worst as far as fridges.

Not to be an a-hole, but I'd probably find a new repairman if I were you. They're clearly not very experienced.

Samsung and LG make nice fridges but...reliable?? Samsung fridges are widely regarded as some of the most problematic [usatoday.com] fridges on the market. LG has literally had multiple class-action [consumerreports.org]lawsuits, including another one filed just this year [nbcwashington.com], regarding its faulty compressors.

I'm not saying I wouldn't buy fridges from either brand, but it's definitely misinformed if not disingenuous to say 2 of the least reliable fridge brands on the market are the most reliable.

I also bought a Maytag washer. It's a piece of junk. I hate it.
My mom had a Maytag washer for over 40 years before finally having to retire it. Part finally broke on it that couldn't be replaced these days without it just not being cost feasible. For the first 30 years it ran without a hitch. No repairs needed. It finally after 30 years required a repair. The repair man said to hold on to that thing as if it was gold since it was impossible to find these and they were built to last. It had ran since then for another 10+ years before finally another part broke that wasn't repairable. Sucks.

You don't need 24 hours. It doesn't take that long for fluids to settle. Usually an hour is good enough, but at most you need is 4.

To buck the trend, I had a Samsung fridge finally die on me 4 days ago after running for 15 years. I also do not blame the failure on Samsung for the failure for my fridge either. Why? Kids broke it. A family my wife was friends with from childhood needed a place to stay while they were between houses and jobs. We let them stay in our house for 6 months before they found a new place. However, their pre-adolescent kids kept leaning on the freezer drawer to the point it finally broke. I am not sure what broke, but it broke at the point that the internal tension could not close the drawer all the way anymore. You had to deliberately push the drawer all the way in to get it sealed with a good amount of force. My younger kids could never do that and they tended to go grab stuff like pizza rolls or chicken nuggets.

Now, it was on me to spend the money to fix it, but I didn't. So eventually the compressor after 4 years of having a drawer not fully closing leading to lots of frosting problems finally gave up the ghost. Again, not the fault of the fridge. Then again, this was the highest end model Samsung sold at that time though.

Stay away from Maytag!!!
I got similar one from Lowes few months ago & going on the third repair service, very unreliable. I'm very disappointed.
All these new appliances suck. I only buy old ones now that last 15-30 years. Got a freezer that's probably 50 years old still running.

This is actually good advice. Wish retailers would change their Return Policy . 48hour return window is absolutely horrible.

Most fridges are junk now and all brands have reliability issues. I have a samsung fridge that lasted almost 14 years now. The only issue I've had with it is the ice maker went out a long time ago and never bothered to fix it.

Damn what a tempting price, my 1999 Frigidaire top freezer fridge still going strong. does anyone has a modern Frigidaire fridge, are they still good?
I had one which came with my house. It's a 2019 model, MSRP is close to 3K. I had lots of troubles with it. The doors do not close properly. The handles need to be tighten from time to time. Several trays broke. One fan went out in about 2 years. The compressor went out in 4 years.
