Yes Google voice worked for verification without unlocking it once get device pay $3 to unlock GV for porting or try activate with new number YMMV or port different number on activate page.

These Automatically unlock with only 1 month service after Activation on 60th day can confirmed unlock date by texting UNLOCK to 611611

I got the phone today and after setup it asked if I wanted to use a new number or port in an existing number. Would I be charged anything extra if I choose to select a new number? Where are the details on this? I haven't found anything online but creating a new number would be a lot easier than porting in a Google voice number

I just went through that both ways. At the very end it asks for payment.


I called CS and they were very pleasant and efficient. Have your IMEI & last 4 digits of SIM # ready for them. CS said NO to new #. Port-in only for this promo. 12 minutes later I was activated. Outbound calls only. Inbound still going to Google Voice.


I think they never initiated the port-in sequence with google when I ordered.


Just make sure to unlock ($3) the GV # before calling CS. They will initiate port-in and activate for you in about 10 minutes.

Forgot to mention: In your GV settings go to Voicemail and turn on "Call to listen" and create a pin. They will need that pin #.

Just a data point: as an SD'er posted earlier in this thread, I 'activated' my phone while it was in transit and in that process it asked me to select "new number" or port-in. I selected new number, and when the phone arrived here it immediately activated with a different number than the GV # I gave to port-in, so YMMV - but it was better for me to NOT harvest a GV # to take advantage of this promo, and I don't see how they can charge me any more as this is a prepaid plan. FWIW

So I guess i missed it. Activating in transit is a hack to do this? ah too bad mine arrived already.. but i'm using a 15 day free trial of visible as a donor # anyway so it's all good. i need to check and see when it expires

I have a us mobile number to port in. when I enter the number is list as singular carrier. Look like they accept the number to be ported but when the send me the 6 digit code, I never receive the message. Is there a way to verify without the 6 digits code. I used my other phone to text and call to the port number and it went through fine. anyone has problem not getting them to send the 6 digit verification code?

Use your other number or Google Voice number to get the code. It's not necessary to port in the number that received the code; it can be any number other than Total's number.

I was able to use GV last week to port. but today it won't take GV. There is no discount with the GV number.
