I thought someone mentioned earlier in thread it should work without an unlock but I'll have to try and find it.
Edit- Well from what I am reading online, you appear to be correct. It seems like I will have to wait the 60 days..

Basically total wireless/straight talk/simple mobible/tracfone... share the same "lock policy" and phones from one brand can work with sister brands without unlocking.
But even they are owned by verizon now, they don't share the same "lock policy". Use iPhone as example: if you check lock status on sickw.com, iPhones from total wirless will showed as locking to "tracfone", while phones from verizon will show as locking to "verizon"
...
Don't remove the SIM card from the phone after the first month service is ended. Keep it until phone is fully unlocked after 60 days.
