About this item:
  • Enter the futuristic universe of Red Rising, based on the book series by Pierce Brown featuring a dystopian society divided into 14 castes. You represent a house attempting to rise to power as you piece together an assortment of followers (your hand of cards). Will you break the chains of the Society or embrace the dominance of the Golds?
  • Red Rising is a hand-management, combo-building game for 1-6 players (45-60 minute playing time). You start with a hand of 5 cards, and on your turn you will deploy 1 of those cards to a location on the board, activating that card's deploy benefit. You will then gain the top card from another location (face up) or the deck (face down), gaining that location's benefit and adding the card to your hand as you enhance your end-game point total.
Includes:
  • 112 character cards (65x100mm)
  • 6 asymmetric House tiles (65x100mm blackcore)
  • 1 board (410x284mm)
  • 1 wolf-head tray and lid
  • 60 helium tokens (red gems)
  • 60 influence tokens (plastic cubes)
  • 1 Sovereign token
  • 1 crescent moon first-player token
  • 1 custom Rising die (22mm)
  • 6 fleet tokens (plastic ships)
  • 1 scorepad (50 pages, double-sided)
  • 6 reference cards (65x100mm)
  • box (296x296x70mm)
  • insert (cardboard)
  • 1 multiplayer rulebook
  • 1 Automa rulebook
  • 30 Automa cards (25 cards are 57x87mm and 5 cards are 65x100mm)

I have never played this game, so I can't speak to it, but for anyone considering if you should dive into the series, it is truly an absolute masterpiece. Ive read it several times and I have never recommended it to someone and not had them get quickly hooked. About 1/3 through the first book things get going and they just get better and better. 10/10 book series for me.

Ah maybe it's account specific? Myself and some redditors had a clipable coupon on the product itself.

Pretty good solo game. Perfectly average to mediocre multiplayer game. You're basically trying to build the best hand combo by the end of the game, but due to the random/luck-based nature of card games, your end game hand may look completely different (and somewhat of a letdown) compared to your intentions.

Maybe I need to try this solo because we found it very boring multiplayer.

Is it bad I don't want to buy this because I don't see a coupon even though it seems like a reasonable price?

To be fair, even though the "MSRP" IS $40 most places have it deep discounted to a "normal" price of $15.

I think they overestimated the popularity of this based on the books and overproduced?

Got it when it was on Target clearance 2 years ago. No idea how it plays 😀 but the reviews say similar to what others have said here

Excellent publisher, I don't know this game or the IP it's based on but with Stonemaier's reputation $9 is probably worth the gamble

Can anyone recommend other games that I can look for when they go on sale? Have a 13 and 9 year old and like to play games with them in the evening before bed instead of being on their phones. We play a lot of card games but if people have suggestions for new ones I appreciate all input. Unfortunately, on a budget. Thanks!
