I can't believe these haven't come down in price more… they were ~900$ two years ago

These sales are likely to lower inventory before expected next gen announcement. I would expect these prices to stay or at least return and maybe drop further.

I'd hold out because they're intentionally delaying the 8800xt release.

I bought the 7900 XT instead. It's cheaper and 98% as good.

Should I buy this or the 4070 TI ( wait for a small dip on it ) . How big is the ray tracing difference . Am a casual gamer and would love to try some AI models . What would you suggest ?

If you can wait a few months until new GPUs release and then buy a new one or secondhand with people selling their old gpus

100% this card for gaming. The 7900xtx is about 25% faster and the 12gb vram on the 4070ti will age like milk. This card can handle ai modeling with ROCm just fine. If you decide to really get into AI modeling, the 4090 is the way to go or wait for the 5090.

4070ti.. gaming with frame Gen is excellent, and if you plan on dabbling with anything AI, it's still CUDA or nothing. However IntelOne API has made some excellent improvements and with 770 16gb ram, is a solid choice. Short of 4090, all consumer cards will be inadequate, but enough to play around with.

Yup. Everyone is waiting until Feb, when the 8800xt will sweep @ $500, 7900xt raster, 4070ti raytrace.
