Super solid deal for a watch that still gets all the latest features. I've had mine 2+ years and very happy with it.

It seems like Garmin has their B or C team working on the updates though. I usually don't update my running watches too often until a very solid and confirmed version has been out for a while but i recently took the plunge with my 955 and upgraded from a version that was about a year or so old, and it's been a messy cyclone of constant updates with them trying to fix all the newly introduced bugs, and my battery drain is horrible now. I used to lose around 3% battery drain per day outside of GPS-related activities, and now it's more like 8 or 9% per day.

Great find OP! I love my 955!

I got this deal 1.5 years back when it was $400 - 20% cpn via Garmin directly. Sadly, Garmin dot com has not matched this price yet. If they do, then you could get $320 - 20% cpn. Coupons are offered through many insurance providers' perks, or usual student/teacher type of program.

I don't have that battery issue of the other user. I do lose about 5-10% per day but because I often do two-a-day workouts, lifts and runs. and lots of push notifications. It's more like 4-5% on rest days. With my heavy usage, I recharge about once per week or 6-7 days.

Love this watch. Marathon training (and pacing) was great, and the older MIP display is perfect for sailing and racing small boats in direct sunlight. Great value in Garmins range.

Make sure you're going through the app. Web not working for prime deals

There's definitely a battery drain issue that I believe is attributed to incident detection running after an activity has been stopped. This defect was fixed in some of the other newer watches and the Fenix line. I assume it will be fixed soon for the 955. My personal current frustration is the lack of elevation tracking that seems to randomly occur during activities now. I hope they fix this one soon.

Sweet deal, OP! I had the 945 lte, 955, and now 965. I can't see myself switching from the 965 for a while. Maybe until it dies. If I didn't care about oled, the 955 would be the same.

I don't know how people get as many hours as they do out of these watches I have the 965 and I understand the difference with the screen regardless I guess I'm a power user I'm lucky if I get 3 days I guess I should get to the point You're exactly right about the elevation tracking situation right now I have the same problem on the 965 I don't know if that problem integrates itself into routing or navigation I predominantly notice it on my normal running route that I'm not hitting my elevation goals which is total BS

That's great that you have a upcoming 50K The only advice that I can give you when using this watch If the route where you are going to run already exists just go with that if you create a course there is a possibility that if you get off the course you have created at all or if the GPS decides that you are off it If it is an out and back it may just redirect you back this has happened to me numerous times
