This is an awesome price. Ordered one. Not thrilled about a few things, like needing to connect it to wireless or needing to use the remote, but from a panel performance standpoint, this is a great panel.

Do you have to connect to wifi to use it all the time, or as a setup if you just want a monitor?

You don't need to connect it to WiFi, but Samsung is trying to make their platform/media center happen so it behaves a lot like a TV with remote and streaming channels. But no, you can just ignore it (but it takes an extra step instead of just turning it on like a monitor.)

$769 if you buy more than one monitor. I had the wide screen OLED deal on my cart and both of them dropped in price.

Really thinking of ordering this. Majority of my gaming is done on Series X and then the exclusives on PS5. Occasionally game on pc with a 6750xt

What I don't understand is how can these monitors achieve 4k 240hz, without DP 2.1? Doesn't DP 1.4 max out at 4k@144hz?

It's true that DP2.1's bandwidth would be ideal, but as ypeeLs said, HDMI 2.1 and DP1.4 both allow you to hit higher frame rates at 4K with DSC.

The important limitation to consider is that no nVidia cards currently available support DP2.1, so you're using DSC for those frame rates on nVidia regardless of whether your monitor has DP2.1 today or not. (AMD's flagship cards do have DP2.1)

Is the 250 nits a typo ? Thats awfully dim no ? My point of reference has been OLED screens on laptops and folks are saying 400 nits is barely passable, and this even dimmer than that ?

I went with the LG ultra wide 34" OLED for $600 a few weeks back. This price is tempting though.

I got this for work/play but had to return for text clarity (I admit I'm super sensitive though) and also dual monitor kvm compatibility. We may get true standard subpixel RGB panels in 2025. Great panel for you if it's a single monitor setup and you're not too sensitive to text clarity, other ppl in household couldn't notice.
