RTINGS gave this a 9.1/10 for PC Gaming and a 9.4/10 for Console Gaming
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...sd-s32dg80

"The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8/G80SD S32DG80 is outstanding for PC gaming. It has a high 240Hz refresh rate, and motion also looks extremely sharp, thanks to its near-instantaneous response time. Additionally, it has low input lag at its max refresh rate. Its near-infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity are ideal for dark room gaming, as blacks look deep and inky. It also gets bright enough for highlights to pop, and colors look rich and vivid. Though it doesn't have noticeable VRR flicker if you use VRR Control, this feature significantly increases input lag."

"The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8/G80SD S32DG80 is superb for console gaming. It has perfect compatibility with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S, as it has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, and it supports all console features. Because of its near instantaneous response time, it delivers a very crisp image, and its low input lag creates a responsive feel. It also provides outstanding picture quality with deep and inky blacks, as well as bright and vivid colors."

It's also tempting, but the amount of bad reviews of random black screens on Amazon and Samsung's websites prevent me from pulling the trigger here too.

Some reviews also compare this monitor to others using the same panel but without the matte coating and they point out how it makes everything less sharp and appear like the colors a smearing

I just returned mine. I wouldn't get this unless you had a long extra warranty. The smart features were nice (having an easy switch to tv is great) but waaay too intrusive.

There's a Buy a Monitor, Get a Monitor deal on 3/5. Wondering if it's best to wait till then if you're going to get this one.

Can you elaborate more? What were some of the reasons you decided to return it? In your opinion, did it appear bright when gaming in HDR?

when i go to the store an see the 8k oled that look like real life; is that the 8k; the oled ; or both thats making that look so good? I dont know if ive seen a 4k oled in a long time or if ive seen a 8k non oled. But from what ive seen the Oled is the only one that can make blacks appear black so that could be it?

The Samsung G series of OLED monitors has a HORRIBLE track record when it comes to durability and burn-in. I've heard more than a handful horror stories of burn-in in just a year of usage to avoid these monitors like the plague.

I don't understand why my edu account can't see that price. I got a discount using Edu email before, but now Edu discount is not available. When I check on the Samsung app, it says that the discount is not applicable because of the Edu standard account. Does anyone know why this is happening?

A "premium" monitor without an audio out, offering only HDMI ARC, is a dealbreaker for me. I want to connect not only my PC via DisplayPort, but also my PS5 and Switch, and I want to enjoy better sound (I have a pair of Edifier 1700BT speakers) when playing on consoles instead of relying on their crappy built-in speakers. I also don't want to buy an additional HDMI audio splitter after already paying that much for the monitor. There are better options out there with a 3.5mm jack output and 65W USB Type-C power delivery.

I tell you, I almost have most of these monitors. I have the neo g9 49 inch. I have the 55 inch ark, I have a host of other monitors, but this is by far my most beautiful screen, I even prefer this over my 8k TV. I was able to find it open box closer to the 600 to 700. I was not looking to purchase another monitor, but seeing the display and trying out at home totally changed my mind. I'm using a 4090 with this, so if you decide to bite make sure your GPU can handle this. My 4090 cannot handle all 3 of my best simultaneously so I only turn on 2 at a time. I made this my main monitor.

Returned this last week after one day. The interface is maddening, they want it to be a TV more than a monitor with all the "smart" features that no one really wants on a PC monitor. But that's not the only thing I couldn't stand about it.

Whites were nowhere near as white or bright as I can get with my current VA monitor. They looked more like a sickly yellowish white. I spent about 4 hours tuning this thing to about where I wanted it but when I finally got it suitably white/bright enough the eyestrain was profound. That doesn't work for me as I spend about 7 hours every day in excel, (which I am 100% certain would also lead to burn in with that much time looking at gridlines every day).

Now, for only gaming would I like it? It did make Monster Hunter Wilds look amazing but all Samsung monitors have that heavy oversaturation which sometimes looks great and sometimes looks just weirdly off. I maybe would have kept it but it did flicker quite a bit in several different games and just straight up would not handle framegen correctly (incessant flicker) in several titles, but my old LG VA monitor handled them no problem at all. At the end of the day the small benefit wasn't worth $900 for me.

I got this monitor about the same price last BF. It's a pretty good monitor. You need to use HDMI though if you want 4K because DP is not stable. The matte coating is extremely good -- I've never seen anything like it, no monitor comes close in the coating.
