I tried to search in the thread and tried USMOBILE but they didn't allow me to port out the number. Can you please help me to post that has more details? Thanks
I saw a few people offered PM to share the number but assuming all those are taken now

Metro's unlocking rules do satisfy a deal made by T-Mobile and the FCC that was struck to get the regulatory agency to sign off on T-Mobile's acquisition of Sprint. Under that agreement, T-Mobile's prepaid subscribers had to be allowed to unlock their phones no longer than one year after activation. Metro's jump from 180 days to 365 days merely puts the T-Mobile unit in line with T-Mobile's own prepaid unlocking policies.

One year unlocking seems like a pretty good bet.

Yes, everything you said is true, but if you are planning to have it unlocked, unless the phone is activated on a metro line the unlock timer will not start, so doing this is only valuable if want to resell the phone as sealed phone locked to metro.
Thanks for your feedback. For some reason I thought it was possible to have the phones unlock without turning them on. Maybe I was getting mixed up with Straight Talk. Anyways, I went and looked up Metro's unlock policy (https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy):

Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
Later on it states:

Quote :
5. When does the service requirement start?
The service requirement begins from your phone's activation date. The first day your phone is active with Metro by T-Mobile counts as day 1. Please note that your phone's activation date is different from your account's activation date.

Note: For phones under warranty exchange, the activation date is the date you originally purchased the phone, not the activation date of your warranty exchange handset.
They have spelled out the distinction between account activation and device/phone activation. I think you are right in that the phone will not unlock if it's kept sealed, and it's not worth the risk to find out.

So now I have a dilemma. I had previously switched the device for the line that was originally paired to my sealed 12. Should I try switching it back to this 12? The problem is that the account that I had used to purchase this 12 just became suspended. I can request a 72 hr extension but I'm not sure if it will let me switch devices during the extension period and whether this phone will activate properly even if I'm able to switch?

Or, I have another phone on the way for a newly-created Metro account. Would it be ok to switch the device for that line to my sealed 12, which I would then turn on and activate? In otherwords, will the unlock timer get triggered properly if the phone is activated on a different account from the one it was originally purchased on?

But how much is the monthly cost of service on Go5G Plus or Go5G Next for 24 months? And compare to the cost savings of MVNOs.
All monthly service costs will vary as some of us have discounts/free lines on our plans when joining or when they were available. I currently pay $144 a month for 11 lines on Go5G Plus. It's cheaper for me than a MVNO. I think the standard costs for Go5G Plus is $150 per month, but can be as low as $120 per month.

AFAIK the Metro esim is not preloaded but rather gets installed when the phone is first turned on and activated. My understanding is that if you are not planning to unseal/turn on the phone and want to sell it later as new and unlocked, you should switch the line to a different device (that is not paired to a Metro account) so that the IMEI is no longer associated with your Metro account. This is what I have done with one of the 12's I got.
How are you supposed to switch the eSim to the new device? I used to switch physical sim easily
